Thank you Rosie and Joy.....I hope it will be 5 days for his sake really. Rosie..I have now figured out that if I put about 4 or 5 treats in my hand AND the tablet and put them all in my hand so he really can't see what he is getting in his mouth je happily swallows all.....this has worked twice so hope it continues to be successful. If it isnt I will try your OH's method!
What would we do without this wonderful Forum????!!

Update on Cooper and kennel cough....last night noticed he had a "warm" nose and that he was licking his nose (discharge?) and still coughed every hour on the hour so decided to take him to vet today, had no fever and, of course jumped all over the doc and licked her up and down ...! She checked his chest and it was clear, so said she would give me some cough suppresant pills but he did not need antibiotic...thank goodness. That he is fine and will recuperate in a few days . He had two pills with a bit of kibble around 11AM and now it is 3:20PM and he has coughed only once!! Yipee!!! Vet aso said meds would make him sleepy which is fine because he is bored to tears being indoors (and so am I) except am watching the U.S. Tennis Open in New York City....but Cooper does not look too interested in it!! Have a great weekend....it's Labor Day Weekend here so it is a three day affair!!!

Definitely better....when he gets excited about something....be it food, a squirrel outside....the phone ringing...the doorbell ringing!!! he does pant and then starts to cough but, today, his coughing is much less. One thing I had been told was not to walk him when he is like this. Do you all agree? I have kept him home and mostly idoors from Tue through today Sat....a lot of days without any exercise. We walked around the garden earlier and he ran after a butterfly and started to cough! So maybe still keeping him indoors is best for now?

Glad he's improving. Unless your vet has said otherwise I would let him out in the garden as much as he wants. When Molly had it I walked her again after a couple of days, but for several weeks drove to areas where we wouldn't meet other dogs, so as not to pass it on. I think you'll be able to tell if Cooper' s feeling fit enough for exercise.

    Thanks,Joy.
Just came in from the garden.....he trotted around a bit and then didn't want to come in! So he is better!
I will take him for a short walk tomorrow early in the morning when there is no one around. And it is cooler.
He will not be seeing any dogs until he is totally over it....vet is going to call me on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) and will ask her when that could be.....but he is still coughing....not anywhere close to what he was a few days ago....Actually, I was told at the vet's that he should be vaccinated every SIX months for kennel cough....before they were stating twelve....so that is what I will do from now on.
