We got knocked over. I managed to push the doggies out of the way but took the force of it and fell into a hedge.we were all fine but doggies were scared me too. The cyclist was very apologetic and I was too shocked and worried about the dogs and bleeding to really get annoyed. He saw all the blood and freaked appolgised some more and I said you must not speed on the pavements please don't do this look what you've done. He left still apolgisining and I sat in the hedge and felt like I needed a rest or a fag and I don't smoke. Rory told him off too, to which he said I think I deserved that, think he did!. I've spent months getting Rory ok with bikes and joggers and anything which moves fast to have it all undone by a cyclist idiot. Rory was a bit silly on saturday but I think he'll be ok. Thank goodness he didn't hit the dogs the total idiot i would have killed him

Oh my god! Are you ok? How are the dogs after the shock? What was he doing riding on the pavement? Some cyclists are just so selfish and idiotic. We had a few idiots when in France with guys thinking they were in the Tour de France but the majority slowed and allows time for a dog to be recalled or just brought closer.

How awful for you! What an idiot riding on the pavement like that. They are lucky you were in shock and didn't take their details for prosecution. Just got to be thankful no serious harm done. Bet you are feeling a bit battered you poor thing - just take it easy

Just too shocked and worried about the dogs I'd just had my chemo and was looking forward to a nice relaxing walk before the chemicals hit me. So much for that idea :D

That' awful! I hope that you all recover from the shock soon. I hate cyclists riding on pavements. It's just so dangerous!

I actually make it my policy not to move for cyclists on pavements with or without Juno. I feel a spot of googling coming on to check rights of pedestrians and cyclists

What a dreadful fright, must have scared the cyclist as well, I am sure he will never do that again! Hope you don't have delayed shock. I sometimes walk on the hills and cyclists come speeding down round corners, I am always worried one of the dogs will appear round the corner into the speeding cyclist and we will get the blame!

Oh no, are you ok now? You probably should not have continued on alone. At least it sounds like the cyclist was a good person and stopped.

I am glad that you and the dogs are alright, but the cyclist was not being "good and reasonable' when he apologised. He simply should not be on the pavement at all.

The Highway Code quite categorically states that cyclists should NOT ride on pavements. It is not advisory, it is simply against the law.

It bugs me. They are always demanding cycle lanes etc, but they pay nothing towards the upkeep of our roads, are not required to have any insurance. They are not required to have any level of competence or training. Many of them do not bother with lights or wearing reflective clothing which can make it very difficult to see them in unlit country areas.

I used to teach kids how to ride bikes, to obey the Highway Code etc. The Cyling Proficiency Scheme that some of the UK members will remember. So I feel entitled to rant

Absolutely dreadful, I really do hope you and your lovely dogs are OK today.

This happened to my Sister as she stepped out of my Dad's front gate, a cyclist speeding on the pavement knocked into her sending her flying into the air landing on her back, she was very badly bruised and in pain for weeks. My Dad gave the cyclist what for  I agree with Rosemary I will not move out of the way for any cyclist they can WAIT.

    Please look after yourself xx

As a dog owner and cyclist I thought I would offer my perspective on this.

Round here lots of the pavements are also designated cycle paths, some are divided and some are shared. I cycle regularly but I'm always particularly careful on these pavements, in fact on any route I ALWAYS slow right down when I see a dog as you never know how it might react to a cyclist.
There is quite often a problem with many dog walkers who wear headsets and are either listening to music or on the phone, on the divided paths they are quite often on the wrong side (ie the cyclist bits) but I would still never speed past them as I believe that any pedestrian has right of way.
I did pass my cycling proficiency test many moons ago when I was still at school and it's a shame more cyclists don't seem to have done this. I also don't agree with cycling on the pavement if it isn't designated for doing so.

I agree the cycle shouldn't have been on the pavement.
I do hope he helped you up and asked if you were okay (whilst being barked at)
I am often scared witless by bikers shouting ahead at me (nervous disposition? ha ha....maybe!) but I do worry about both cycle and horse riders coming a cropper as a result of a lunge from my dog so am grateful for a heads up.
I really hope you are okay, you could have done without this. I hope someone is home looking after you xx

There are a couple of cyclists who come racing down the main road near us who never stop at the red light at the pedestrian crossing. Just waiting for an accident to happen. Most stop even if they are obviously annoyed or some stop then continue even though the light is still red, some speak through and yell at you to get out of their way! It's the few arrogant beep beepers who give cyclists such a bad name.

How awful! So sorry you had this shock! I nearly got run over by a cyclist going full speed once, that near miss got me thinking how awful it would be to actually get hit. I hope you are okay, you certainly didn't need that after chemo. Hope you aren't too sore today.
