Well, some of you may know I've been looking for idea's to keep wee Jake busy while I'm being subjected to night shift for a bit.

I bought a star pod and a bone shaped Kong yesterday, filled them along with his normal Kong's and froze them for today. I gave him the star pod and a normal one at 12:30, and got back up at 1:45pm to find this:

What a load of rubbish! He's only 12.5 weeks old, didn't expect that to happen, we'll stick to the normal Kongs from now on. I've now got to watch him and make sure the bits pass, and hope he doesn't vomit. The vet thinks he'll have chewed the pieces small and that they should all pass, so fingers and paws crossed.

Oh my goodness i will not be buying one of those! his poo's are certainly going to be colourful. but seriously if a 12.5 week pup can do that damage to this i think they need to reconsider how they make these. NIght shifts....i feel your pain

Oh my goodness, I had to google to see what it was supposed to look like. I take it you've contacted the company and put pictures on any Facebook pages they have?
    Hope Jake is okay.

I've contacted Kong, I don't know if I'll hear back, but I made my views pretty clear. Never thought of Facebook tbh :)

He's good so far, just eating some tea, so hopefully he'll keep it down, and pass everything.

Oh dear! Have you emailed the photo to Kong? Maybe a photo of the final result too...?! I'll definitely avoid those. So far, I've only met one dog (a lovely Staffie) who has managed to chew pieces off the traditional Kong. :D

Twiglet had a green one of these kong toys (different shape, same material) and I noticed her chewing the end off it. In fact anything made of soft stuff is off limits now as they are all either chewed or de-stuffed. Rope toys and traditional Kongs are about all that survives.

Tatze hardly ever chews toys (just leads )

I must have been lucky - Jaffa has one of those star things each evening from 8 weeks until now (7 months) - still going strong, but I don't leave it with her all the time - remove to refill and freeze again, so she probably only has it in her crate for perhaps an hour after finishing

    Wow, that's terrible!

I guess it kept him occupied! . Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be fine. Ella has eaten plenty of things that she shouldn't and I'm never surprised by what I see in her poo!

He only had it for an hour and 15 minutes in total, I'm not sure anything would have been left if he'd had it any longer

    Eeeek!
I'm sure it will all pass through without harm.
Think he is going to be graduating to the Kong extremes ;)

Oops! He made short work of that.... I'm sure he will be fine though.

The 'proper' Kongs are much tougher.

When he gets his adult teeth you might need to be careful with the standard Kong, as Molly chewed pieces off hers and I had to throw it away. (I know most dogs are fine with them - my last dog was - but it sounds as if you may have a power-chewer!)

I realise now that my 6 month old is obviously not as distructive as I thought. He's had his star Kong for a couple of months and no teeth marks on it even though he chews it. I don't leave him with them though just in case. From your photo it does look like it's each seperate end of the shapes that have been chewed off rather than large whole sections. Hope they pass through soon to put your mind at rest.

We'll definitely be getting the extreme ones :D

He's on the medium sized normal ones today, and he's been fine, closely supervised though. He's pooing normally, and he's not vomited or anything, so hopefully he's fine.

Oh exactly the same happened with us....one use and it was in the bin! 'Proper' kongs are the only reliable thing we use...along with a Trixie treat ball and a Kong wobbler but both of those make a fair bit if noise getting bashed and thrown about so I don't think they would fit your circumstances ......

Dexter I did look at getting the Wobbler, but then read other peoples post about the noise etc, so am looking to get him a buster cube. I'll google a Trixie treat ball too, I don't think you can have too many of these things :)

Oh and re: my circumstances I'm working off the assumption that I'll be back on days in January, or I'll be looking for another job!

I have all three (which I use at the same time or Twiglet hogs it lol!) The noise is the same for all three.

Boogie Are the other 2 as sore on the skirting boards as the Wobbler?

I had a Kong stuff-a-ball which was pretty good. Tough rubber and lasted a long time. No use with two of them, though. Unless I get another.... :) :)

We've got one of those small, soft kongs (are they called Kong quests?). They are definitely not as tough. I put mine in the dishwasher with the other kong toys and it came out all warped.

We also have a kong wobbler. Buffy absolutely loves it but it's like giving a toddler a bowling ball. She smashed her water bowl, knocked in the baseboards of my mum's kitchen units and then I finally put it away because I was worried about the patio doors. I think we'll keep it as an outdoor toy for the summer. It's a shame it's so flipping heavy, I know it's because it has to right itself but it's really quite destructive in the paws of a boisterous puppy.
