https://www.livescience.com/63878-color-labrador-retriever-health.html They mentioned skin and ear infections in particular and this certainly has been an issue for my Chocolate Marley boy. Longevity also seems to be worse. Too much breeding for color instead of health is my guess.
Wonderful our last Lab was yellow though, and he too was prone to having lots of ear infections, hot spots, dry skin problems threwout his life. He only lived to be 8 years old as well. I sincerely hope that our now chocolate girl doesn't have to suffer threw this, and will live a long, long time. So far so good. She is still a puppy though
