Hello, I have just become a mum to 2 labradoodles and they are doing great. Just looking for a little advice or opinions. They are sleeping till 4.30/5am which is great but when they wake they are frantic for food. I have been holding off feed until 6 as that will be my normal routine when back to work also I dont want to promote them waking at 4.30 for a feed. Is this likely to happen or will they just sleep longer and not wake just to be fed? Look forward to your replies.
Hi Doodle, welcome to the forum! Here at HQ we'd also hold off until 6am - you can read more about why in this article!
Hi Doddle, When we first got Luna she was the same and some mornings I caved and fed her to try get some more sleep. But we started feeding her 4 meals a day and this helped with the morning feed and she would be able to sleep and wait a bit longer. Now she wakes up about 5 for a toilet break then we can come home and cuddle until breakfast at 7. She is 10 months now. You don't want them to get used to getting food as soon as they wake up as they will start getting up earlier and expect food.
