Hi, I am new to the forum but would really appreciate some advice. Sadly my 8 year old black Lab Dexter ruptured his Achilles’ tendon on back right leg 9 weeks ago. He had operation with a pin to restrict movement and was in a cast. No exercise at all just 5 mins lead walk in garden for wee and poo. 15 days ago the pin was removed. All seemed well at first but after 10 days he became lame again and wouldn’t put any weight on leg. Went back to orthopaedic vets who have removed cast and bandages and said to wait 2 weeks for swelling to go and bandage sores to heal. However it does look like he has hyper flexibility in that leg which is not good. Unfortunately we ran out of insurance money about £8000 ago! I just wondered if any one else has had this problem with the tendon not healing completely and if it was resolved? Thanks for reading.
