Hi Marie - I think this is pretty normal in puppies.
Particularly when your pup is hyped up full of energy.
Removing the object that is being humped, or considering a time out if REALLY hyped up is worth considering.
Given that you can's remove your leg (I would imagine) then removing yourself from Ziva's vicinity would be useful, but keeping an eye on him

I wouldn't worry too much, Ziva was over excited and really didn't know what she was doing. As Jacqui says, if it happens again, just try and remove the object being humped if possible, or a short time out to calm down.

It is very normal in puppies and nothing to worry about. That said, I do not find that it is even remotely funny when a 30kg Labrador starts humping human legs though, so I was pretty quick to stop this behaviour when Charlie was a pup. Objects (inc people) were swiftly removed and puppy distracted onto a more acceptable activity.

Willow used to hump her toy meerkat every now and again when she was excited. I just extracted it because I didn't want it to become habit.

As Julie says, an adult dog humping you, your furniture, your family etc isn't funny at all, so you want to ensure you nip it in the bud.

Yes - my two like to hump each other, but I stop them so that a habit doesn't form. I think it's more important with entire males. Our visitor, Zaba, started to go cross eyed when he was humping a cushion - hmmmm, no!
