Juno is still moulting and seems to have been moulting forever at the moment :(. So, I was just wondering what tools we all use to brush and groom our four legged friends. I've been brushing but have been a bit reluctant to use a comb after finding a bare patch two weeks which may have been due to over-enthusiastic combing . My poor girl has got such a wicked human :D:D

God I feel your pain about the moulting! It does my head in! We bought this for Bob when we first got him. I don't use the combs but I do use the black brush and he seems to really enjoy it. I do also use the handheld Dyson on him as a special treat, he loves the suction! I have to remember to avoid his ball area tho!

Chepi won't let me brush her but will let me comb her. I have never used my ferminator as I was advised not to. So I use a fine toothed comb which is effective but doesn't leave patches of thinning hair (which some say a ferminator will).

Yup we don't use a ferminator, but every now and then a little suction with the Dyson is very well received lol! I thought he'd be scared of the noise at first, but now when I'm hoovering, Bob follows me round the house with a soppy look on his face.. PLEASE hoover me mummy!

    Crazy dawg!

I use a ferminator - I reckon there is zero chance of it leaving a bald patch on Charlie, in a fight between the ferminator and his coat, my money is on the furry one....that's not to say it's going to be ok for all dogs, it might not be.

He seems to have lost nearly all of his winter coat now, and seems to have a full summer coat. I guess I might enjoy that stable situation until he starts growing his winter coat and loses his summer one...about a month?:D:D:D

I might give a brush like that a go - I've got the Mikki comb which certainly removes fur :rolleyes:. Have to admit the picture of Bob being hoovered really made me laugh and had to admit I needed a laugh this evening. I'm pretty lucky with Juno as she rather likes being brushed as she knows she will get a couple of teats for standing still :D:D. The funniest part of grooming Juno is that both the cats appear to be groomed and receive treats as well :D:D

I thought I was having it too good as Juno has hardly shed before and this is her first real moult. Guess that's what you get for becoming complacent :rolleyes:

I use a Zoom Groom. I like it because you can be quite brisk and rapid with it without worrying about the skin underneath.

I have a Jappyland comb, which is very much like the Furminator. I can't talk about "the real thing", but mine certainly doesn't cut the hair, which is what I've heard some people say about the Furminator (whether or not this is true, I have no idea). Shadow has always moulted a bit, but Willow didn't for months. This is how I know it doesn't pull out or cut any attached hair - when I was getting handfuls from Shadow, it wouldn't even draw a hair from Willow.
They both went through a massive moult in Spring, which was a nightmare. J swept up three times a day, we brushed them twice a day and there was still hair everywhere. Having a black and a yellow, I can't easily coordinate my apartment to match the hair colour, either :D
