After yesterday evening's irritation, I've decided to go big guns at stopping them jumping up in social situations, even if they're excited. We briefly went to a 70th birthday celebration this evening, and, of course, the pups were excitable when we first arrived. I practically shouted at everyone approaching to PLEASE IGNORE DOGS UNTIL THEY CALM DOWN. I started off very polite, but ended up a little brusque, which then immediately turned to polite explanation as soon as they backed off in surprise. It's not in my nature to be abrupt, but I think I've come to the realisation that I need to be on occasion where training is concerned. As soon as people back off, that's when you can explain nicely why. It worked wonders. Willow and Shadow were as good as gold as soon as the people "behaved". I think I've also done a little bit of good training of the people so that next time, they'll know what I need them to do. Sadly, I've only decided to be so "rude" with two weeks of the season left, so I've lost a lot of the opportunity for training. But I have some ideas for setting up scenarios with a couple of people that the pups find highly exciting, so it's all good. Feeling very positive about showing that a-hole what's what next year ;D ;D

It's never too late and I'm sure you'll make massive progress in the next two weeks :)
