I was starting to get a bit depressed about Lady because she wasn't really showing any improvement. In a lot of discomfort and very reluctant to move. Struggled get her out of bed in the morning to go out for even a short walk. Couldn't get her to go out into the garden for a wee. She didn't even bark at the postman or the varioous delivery men.

That was until yesterday when for the first time in the morning she got out of bed and came to the back door when I picked up the walks treat bag. She suddenly seemed to be moving much more freeley. Last night she went out for a wee as good as gold. This morning it was the same - up and out so I took her a little way further for her walk.

Just now I had to restrain her from leaping up and barking at our next door neighbours going out.

Woohoo! She seems to be on the mend at last. So that's 13 days after the operations on her elbows. She's still got a long way to go I know but at least she's on the mend and quite perky now.

Thought I'd pass this on just in case you find yourself in the same situation.

She had the stiches out this morning. It took three of us to hold her - not that she was scared or anything, but she was just squirming around! Vet reckons she's a lovely gentle dog - but he probably says that about all the girls. ;D

She's had a bit of pain in one elbow this week after the silly sausage decided to leap a ditch. What do you do? Jerk her back and doing all sorts of nonsense in the process or let her go? I decided to keep my fingers crossed!

Onwards and upwards for the small black dog now, there'll be no stopping her (was there before? ;D )

Thanks. Yes I think going ok. She's got a bit of intermittent pain in her left elbow that's a bit worrying, but the vet thinks just keep her quiet. It seems a bit better today so fingers crossed. Walking is fine.

Oh dear! I may have allowed her to undo it all. Let her outinto the garden and she took off butt tucking. Stopped her pdq but damage probably done. :'(

I think there may be a bit of playing to the gallery too. She is definitely getting sharp nips of pain every now and then that causes her to whine or shriek a little bit (that was before the garden incident) but it was obviously subsiding. So far nothing extra to that but when she gets a nip of pain I've always been making a fuss of her and gently massaging her leg and straightening and she relaxes. Well since yesterday evening, when she has a twinge she whimpers, looks at me with her ears bag and holds her leg out pathetically. Could this be a bit of human manipulation?

They certainly know how to wrap us around their little dew claws.

I knew a dog who had an injury to his shoulder as a youngster, it healed perfectly and he was totally sound but ask him *in a soppy voice*, "has Felton got a poorly shoulder then?" And immediately the paw came up and the limp started! At least until you got to the biscuit barrel!! ;D

I'm sure Lady will be fine, but you might end up with convenient lameness... ;)

I think she's definitely milking it now. I think she's not quite better from whatever is causing the pain but she was holding the wrong paw up just now. ;D I gave her a cuddle and rub anyway!
