My 1 year old female Lab had a lapararscopic spay on Friday. She was a bit sleepy when we brought her home and I expected her to be kind of low for the first couple of days, but she seems like her normal self and I am having trouble with trying to keep her from running and jumping. I have been walking her on a leash as the Vet said but she seem raring to go. Does anyone have experience with the recovery on this or a traditional spay?
    Thanks.

We had the same problem with our girl Belle after a rather complicated, traditional spay. Once she recovered from the anaesthetic she thought she was good to go. Keeping her calm and on lead walks only was difficult. Good luck with your recovery.

I think it's common for most pups @Lisa Cooper, regardless of type of spay, to be much like their old selves within a few days. However, they do recover more quickly from a lap spay.

My pup had a lap spay. I think I let her off lead on day 4 but it was just gentle ambling, if she looked like she was getting too energetic I put her back on the lead and I didn't allow her to play with other dogs. I gradually extended the time and energy bursts over a few days.

By one week later she went to doggy daycare with my vet's agreement and then was pretty much back to normal.

We had to put Cooper on some sedatives to keep her calmed down after her more complicated than usual spay.

Molly also had the lap spay and like your girl thought she was fully recovered the morning of the next day. We did much the same as Plum's mum and after about a week Molly was back in her normal routine.

First post here, I enjoy reading the forums. I just had my females spayed last week, and the vet recommended a 10-14 day recovery time.
Of course she was raring to go the next day. That was last Tuesday, I will most likely take her hunting next Saturday.
