Big hugs, Karen. I know you're going to be feeling conflicted today. Let us know when you have your girl home x
Tnank you so much everyone for your kind words and good wishes for Poppy! We are safely back home - she's a little subdued and hasn't done a pee yet despite a couple of ambles down the garden. I think she is feeling a bit dozy from the GA and probably a bit uncomfortable. She just wants to be in her comfortable 'cave' under OH's desk, with one of us sitting with her - that's where I am now. I have only good things to say about the vet and the care they gave her. The surgeon talked to us afterwards, said everything looked good and healthy, that she should be fine in a couple of days but no chasing around for a week. They gave us a fitted body shirt for Poppy to wear, but she hates it so he says as long as we are with her she doesn't have to wear it. Guess I know where she'll be sleeping tonight... I appreciate everyone being so kind, you are all lovely xxx
Relieved that it's over; hoping she feels better tomorrow. We have to keep her with us to make sure she doesn't lick the two little wounds. Husband took her for a little toddle around the block and she did a pee. She's had raw mince for supper, with her painkiller, which cheered her up briefly. I know it's for the best, but I do feel a bit flat.
Everything will be fine now you have her home with you. You know you have done the best thing for her.Hugs to you all xx
I so understand how you must be feeling Karen , its the end of the dream but it is also the very best thing for Pops , thank goodness she has you x
So pleased it all went well. Once the GA has worn off she should be back to her normal self. Weirdly, Snowie was hyper after his GA and I was terrified he'd have a seizure, but thankfully he didn't. Hopefully Poppy's seizures are behind her now. The specialist we spoke to said they aim for a 50% reduction in seizures -- they view that as a good result. Obviously for us, a good result is 100% reduction! Let us know how you get on. I hope you get some sleep tonight!
I'm so glad to hear that Poppy's op went well. I've followed your stories here so I know that this is harder for you than it is for her, but you've done the right thing by her and that's what matters.
That's good news that its all done and she's on the mend. I can understand how you feel, but its most certainly the right thing. Gentle hugs for her and good wishes for a comfortable recovery x
We slept well, thank you! She shared my bed, since she hates her body vest so much. Just as well, as I heard her licking in the night - she definitely needs supervision! This morning she was still a bit subdued, but went for a little walk with me and ate her breakfast with enthusiasm - she spat out her painkiller, so I had to give her that again in a little ball of raw mince... I left her at home with OH while I am at work. I think she's going to be fine in a day or two. One thing I forgot to mention - the vet says she will need less food now. Apparently the reproductive cycle requires energy (of course it does, why did I never think of that?) so if that no longer takes place then the metabolic rate will change. He says we need to reduce her food by 1/4 to 1/3. She's not going to like that... But we will be on the case.
