Poor love, most likely a combination of both those factors Karen , pleased to read that the wound is clean and healing nicely ,gentle hugs to your dear girl .
OH is taking her in now for a scan, to check everything is ok. The surgeon wants to see her, says she should be back to normal by now. Now I'm really worried
Oh, what a worry. Everything crossed it's just because she's not as active as normal. Big hugs to you.
Phew - husband just called. She's fine. They did blood tests, and an ultrasound, and all looks ok. Probably she's just feeling some pulling from the internal stitches - she is a terrible wimp as regards any sort of pain! I forgot to say that she vomited yesterday; they gave her some antacid medication to settle that down too. These dogs do love to put us into a panic, don't they?
Oh - and they weighed her - 24.8 kg, so we are at a good starting point for her weight control program!
Not sure how I missed this thread, just read through and really pleased that all is going well with Poppy. I'm sure she I'll go from strength to strength. They really are a worry, sounds to me though she is in fantastic hands. Xx
So pleased vet visit went well. What a worry! I think some dogs are just more sensitive than others. Or perhaps more expressive of their discomforts. Hopefully this will all be behind you very soon.
Update - after yesterday's trip to the vet, with the ultrasound and blood tests, Poppy has clearly decided she is FINE and WELL and in fact has NEVER FELT BETTER IN HER LIFE. She woke me up this morning in a bouncy, happy mood and has continued that way. OH took her into the forest and played a game of 'hide the tennis ball', which she loved. I think her peculiar, depressed behavior must have been down to twinges caused by the internal stitches, combined with a feeling of nausea brought about by the painkillers. Hopefully we're over all that now, and can look forward to our next adventures. Thank you all for the support, much appreciated!
