Less treats when walking?

Our 13-week old puppy has been out walking for a few weeks now, with some great success and some not so great! One thing I've noticed is that she seems to be much better on lead if I err on the side of giving her slightly less attention and treats. She's not nervous or scared of anything and seems seems quite happy to trot along stopping to bury her head in plants and sniff lampposts with the occasional "well done" as we go. Treating her when she is walking well seems to get her overexcited. Is there anything wrong with this approach? Or should I stick to whatever works!

Yes, stick with whatever works, but be prepared to have to change it too as she changes. Good luck !

Every dog is different. Harley isn't that bothered about treats so I train by walking over the same area several times a day and praising her when she walks nicely.
