Thank you for asking. I'm good in the circumstances! Keeping chirpy yet frustrated at not being able to do anything. Definitely feel the invalid! I haven't been alone for more than half hour except overnight and I'm so so grateful for such good friends and family. Nigel has been to work each day (at odd hours) and every time has been covered to keep me safe and plied with food, drink etc. Amazing.
Glad to hear you're been well looked after. Hope our conversations are keeping you amused. Get back on your feet soon.
It's lovely to hear you are being so well looked after. How is Libby coping without you in action? So nice to be surrounded by people who care about you. xxx
Since I broke the other hip 2 weeks ago, I don't have to wonder which hip it was any more. Anyway this one was a lot less traumatic, and it appears the recovery will be quite a bit shorter. I expect to make the beginning of the ski season this year. When you get to crutches, find a small bag to hang on the crutch handle so you can carry small items easily. I use a messenger bag for bigger things when I go out, but having the bag on the crutches makes life a lot easier around the house. Mine has several pockets, and one of them will hold a pint glass very securely. I have to move carefully, but I can carry a full pint up 14 stairs without spilling any.
How is your recovery going? I haven't seen anything for a couple of weeks. Are you home now or in a rehab setting?
Hello all! I've been absent but not in mind or heart. Thank you for asking after me. I'm sure all is recovering well in there, will find out for sure at my next x-ray on 22nd Aug. Life is pretty dull, staying mostly indoors (downstairs only) but friends are still visiting as much as they can. Until I can put any weight on my leg I'll continue hopping with the zimmer frame or wheeling around. Libby stayed with us a few days and was simply gorgeous, very calm indeed. She seems to think it's best to lie right in front of the walker though, which isn't useful when I need the loo!! She's now back at my parents having a lovely time. Hope everyone else is well... @Ski-Patroller get that hip healed quickly! The race is on...
Can you move up to Crutches soon? I find them a lot more flexible than a walker, and you can get around without putting weight on the leg, though it is a lot easier if you can put some weight on the injured leg. I have follow up Xrays on Wednesday. Hopefully trade the crutches for a cane and start PT.
Xrays went well, and I am using a Cane for long walks, primarily to improve my gait and not limp. I can walk around with no cane when I need both hands. As an aside, we were at a dog park Thursday evening and I got hit in the right leg by a running pit bull. Two dogs were chasing each other (playing) and I got hit pretty hard, but no damage. I did not see him coming at all. You really have to watch out in dog parks.
Hello! I'm recovering really well, it's just a long, slow process. I'm on crutches around the house now and wheelchair only when out. I can do the stairs and, best of all, have a bath, phew! I've just introduced Beccy (@Bec78) in the Introductions forum as she is looking after Libby while I can't. How are you @Ski-Patroller? Dx
Glad to hear from you @DebzC and that you are doing so well. It is slow but hey you can have a bath now!! xx
