How is Lilly doing? I saw you mentioned she is driving you mad to get to her stitches. Must be itchy, I reckon.

    Oh Julie :-\
I took her dressing off yesterday. she hadn't paid it much attention up until then.
Took her about an hour of licking with the dressing off to get it bleeding :(
Put a dressing back on but she licked away at it and slipped it down enough to loosen the stitches when we were out last night and the kids were in charge ::) ::) ::) ::)
Dressing is back on but higher up around her ankle but she just keeps licking it to slip it down. Not got to the stitches again, but really they are doing very little, so loose now they would be as well out.
Vets tomorrow afternoon but I think I am going to need a collar as working all week and nobody for definite at home :(

Poor Lilly, Jac could you dress it and put a long sock on pull it up high and tie it? I do this to Hattie when she cuts her pads and I want to stop her removing any dressing and licking and it works. Might be worth a try xx

Oh no! How annoying. Charlie was a menace getting to his stitches. I reckon once they have started, it's tough to stop them.

Good luck at the vet's - maybe they can give something that will help. I read about some stuff you can put on top of dressings to stop licking. I think it was called an anti-lick strip.

Thanks Helen - was just having a rummage for an old sock I could use as you were replying ;D
Now just got to find some tape.

Julie, anti- lick tape would be good. As I was on my walk this morning I was wondering whether they did bitter aloe-impregnated vet-wrap.
I have exhausted my supply of the latter (pink vet-wrap ;) ) so hope the current dressing will last until tomorrow. Hoping the sock will help.

She is very sneaky today - keeps skulking off to somewhere private to lick the dressing down over her ankle ::) ::)

Anti-lick tape is vile, it triggered an asthma attack in one of my nurses when applying it. I cannot imagine any living creature going within 3m of it. Except labradors. They love it.

Oh dear I hope Lilly is resisting licking her stitches and that she is feeling less itchy.

Poor Lily. I hope all goes well, always difficult when our dogs are poorly. Good luck and a big lick from Albert. X

If you can get one of these buster collars Jacqui , they are fab, I`m not saying that Millie " likes " hers, but it is tolerated a lot better than a cone , she can eat, drink, walk and sleep just fine xx

Is that the blow up one Kate?
I didn't think that would stop her getting to her leg - when curled around her foot goes WELL past her nose.....

So far, the sock is working.
Thanks for the sympathies and well wishes x

Ziggy had also decided to take the stitches out of his leg himself the other day. I put a t - shirt on him to stop him nibbling the scar and that worked very well. But his scar is high up on the inside of the leg so easily covered. Good luck at the vets. :)

Oh yes, I saw a photo of him with a very fetching t-shirt ensemble!

Making me wonder whether poor Lilly needs a pair of long johns, so she can't pull the sock down…

Actually, that has given me an idea....wonder what the smallest size tubigrip is.....?
Sock currently tied above ankle with a fetching green ribbon. Trouble is I took it of to go out on the wet dewey grass this morning :-\
It is a bit seepy :-\
Now has a temporary white bandage, but at least I had enough of it to make a decently resilient dressing.

Helen, poor Ziggy had an accident and broke his elbow three weeks ago today. I was really shaken by the whole thing and hadn't put it on the forum but my Facebook friends have known about it. But he is on the mend now and the prognosis is very good. :)

Good grief I am so sorry poor Ziggy :'( I'm not surprised you were shaken up and I hope you are okay now. I am extremely happy the prognosis is good, how did he do it and will he be out of action for the whole shooting season? xx
