Hi. I am looking to breed from my 20 month old lab and want to get her hip and elbow scores done. My vet advises that it is currently taking months for the scores to come back using BVA/KC and has suggested sending the X-rays to Australia as their turn around is much quicker and the Australian Kennel Club scores are in line with the UK Kennel Club. Can anyone advise on this? Does anyone know how to do this?

I've heard of a few people doing this when the breeding is time sensitive (eg an older bitch). You should still send them to the BVA, but yes, they are working through a huge backlog and it will be months before you get your results. The Australian panel seems to be a little more generous in their scoring, but it will give you a good indication. Obviously these results will not be posted on the KC site.
As your girl is only 20 months old, I would definitely wait until next season, or next year to breed.
