Hi all and many thanks for all your kind thoughts and best wishes. It's been a long couple of days with 2 trips to the vet within 3 hrs of each other, Jen having bright red diarrhoea every 30 minutes for 10hrs yesterday, an injection to stop the vomiting and that's without all the medication she's got to take as well. Diagnosis is enteritus/colitis and we're not sure if it's due to the Previcox or not. We were fortunate rhis morning that Jen decided she would try a little chicken and pasta - 90 minutes before we would have needed to leave home for the vets for her to go on a drip. She's now managed 3 very small meals, the last containing a crushed up antibiotic for ease of delivery. Still quite a way to full recovery but we're getting there - and catching up with some much needed sleep. Pain prevention is a discussion to have with the vet next week - focus is on recovery at the moment .
We had discussed as an option when originally trialling the Cartrophen so it may be something we go back to review. I think we'll go for some new x-rays and/or ct scan to really see what is going on with elbows and then plan for the future.
Fingers crossed but I think we are finally turning a corner - Jen wanted to do somd teaining this evening . I knky alliwed a few minutes, but ygat's rsal progress for her to be interested. We resumed short waljs, and I mean short, on Wednesday and haven't increased time or duration yet. More about time to enjoy a sniff and a little wander down the country lane. You know you have converted your OH into paying attention to body functions of your pups when they send you a text while you are training with a client to let you know that you pup has finally produced a poo .Don't think I've ever been happier to receive a text
Oh I am so sorry to read this, I've not been around for several days. I really hope things are looking up for Jen and that you can find pain relief that doesn't upset her tummy. Wishing you all the best in this difficult time... Fingers crossed things continue to look up.
Thank you @Karen . The vet wanted us to restart the Previcox once she was eating again and estimated that would be Thursday. Needless to say I haven't given the Previcox as she wasn't eating enough on Thursday to count as normal and also I'm not prepared to risk another reaction - not after this week. We have an appointment for Monday at a new Hydrotherapy centre with a full assessment on gait etc which will provide a plan going forward for Jen. I need to make an appointment with my vet (unfortunately it wasn't him I saw on Monday as he was operating) to discuss pain relief but I think we'll need to look at another way forward as she was sick on holiday last month for 2-3 days and had been taking Loxicom and now this while taking Previcox
Oh no I have just seen your post, I am so very sorry Jen is so poorly, what a rotten time for you all. Sending big to you all xxxxxx
