Hi, thank you! We must be only interesting when we are indoors . Hopefully all the times I keep standing still eventually he will get the hint. How old is your girl x
Hi Marley, my pup Isla is 25 weeks today! Although we started walking a bit late as in the beginning we took her out and she wouldn't walk! This lasted a few weeks so she's only been really walking properly for the last 6 weeks or so. It's hard work isn't it
Be patient, he is still very young. Consistency is key! Make sure to bring super delicious treats when you want to work with him on training, something he doesn’t get except when training. My girl loves liverwurst(along with all other food!), but I only let her have liverwurst when training. Don’t bring him around a lot of distractions until you can get him to behave outside without the distractions of people and other dogs, once you have him doing better outside then you can slowly add more distractions. Praise praise praise and treats whenever he does anything considered good behavior. It won’t happen overnight but he will learn manners as long as you are consistent.
Yeah i know he's still young and every thing is still exciting haha.. we will get there it was more what to do to help atm. It's as much training for us as it is them I've started taking him out in quieter times now as like you mentioned it's best to keep distractions to minimum.. I've managed to start calming him when we are indoors with new people now by using the videos online. So hopefully if we carry on way we going with little bit of patience. It will all start coming together. Thank you for your advice x
I would be interested to know where those videos are as I have someone coming over shortly and he isn’t very good when people come over gets super excited
Hi I just googled on line training tips for keeping puppy calm when people are coming in.. and then clicked on few different ideas and went from there. What I've done is encouraged him to sit at our baby gate and treated him etc. I then open the gate but if he takes any paws off ground I walk back out. I then make sure everyone turns their back on him if he starts jumping and to keep arms crossed and stay still... he soon gets bored once hes calmed I treat the behaviour. If it all makes sense. It's a work in progress but it seems to be working and people have commented how much quicker he has calmed down. X
Thank you I will take a look. We are open plan downstairs only stair gate going upstairs. It does make sense and sure it will be work in progress
Ahh ok yeah I've got one on living room aswell so I practice like that. Yes good luck. There's so much on YouTube etc x
I see and I took a look at one video made perfect sense then tried it out when son came home and it worked. Can’t wait to keep going with this one. Thanks for the heads up
Wow, I learn more in this pose. My friend has an excited Corgi puppy like yours. I must share with her. haha
Oops sorry just re read my comment. My son came home, and I thought I would try putting him on the lead asking for a sit and stay from Mason the dog and it worked.
Look Susan Garrett has some great training videos, her training methods have worked great for Toots, fun for both dog and human
