    sorry to talk poo!
Eric has been loose for 2 days. When he needs to go, he needs to go! He's not going any more than usual but there is an urgency to it.
I'm away at the moment and the boys are looking after him. He's fine in himself.

I've said to feed him scrambled egg for breakfast tomorrow and chicken and rice for tea. No kibble. I'm home late tomorrow and can do the same Sunday. If he's no better after that do you think a trip to the vets is in order?

I think I would be phoning the vet as I wouldn't be happy that he's had runny poo for 2 days already. Juno doesn't like scrambled egg and I go for fish and rice rather than chicken as it is easier on the stomach, but that's my personal choices. Small portions only and it can be better to give 3 meals or even 4 to help his tummy to settle.

Hope Eric is back to his normal self very soon.

Thanks. I wish I was home to see exactly what he's like. I never go away! Can't believe he's poorly now. I'm sure we have fish in freezer. Will get them to check.
I might suggest they try the vet tomorrow if they can get in

If you're away just make sure they haven't been feeding him something they shouldn't also!! And to cut out all treats and extras until the stomach is settled as that won't help either!

I've done that First thing I asked haha. I think he's probably picked something up on a walk. He's a terrible edge sniffer and I know for a fact they won't be watching him like I do even when they say they do!
Poor baby. I just need to be home

Poor you! Don't they make us worry.

We found that rice didn't agree with Pongo very well (oddly).... but instead we gave him porridge oats (soaked in water), with some chicken. He adored it, and it sorted out his squiffy stomach very fast.

Just make sure they are getting enough fluid into him - he will be losing fluid if he is squiffy. Make sure the rice / oats is nice and sloppy.

How old is he? Puppies can dehydrate quickly but I guess it depends on what "loose" is. Is it #6 or #7 on the chart?

    http://www.epi4dogs.com/poopchart.htm

Two days of #7 in a puppy and I'd be at the Vet's with a fecal sample. But is it Friday where you are? Check to see if they can do anything with it, it might be too late to send it out for analysis if they can't do it themselves. I think it might be worth getting #6 checked too. I think the Vet has to run separate tests for giarrdia than for worms, if that's a possibility.

I see someone just posted about rice. Rice can ferment in the gut and make things worse. Sure didn't help Oban one bit. OUr Vet prefers boiled ground turkey and well baked sweet potato.

@jools try not to worry too much, tummy upsets do happen, and we never believe anyone can look after our pups like we do. Last time I left OH at home with Juno I came home to her limping and he hadn't even noticed  :(. Admittedly it had only started that afternoon but still ;).

It's always the way when we go away!
I've had lots of experience of runny poos with Harley due to lots of issues when she was younger. I fed 4 small meals a day of very sloppy ruce and boiled chicken for a few days, then added in a bit of kibble in each meal ver a few more days before going back to just kibble. I found it worked really well, but as others have said, you might find oats or baked sweet potato is just as good.
Hope Eric gets better soon x

Finally on my way home! He hasn't been too bad today as in frequency and it's getting firmer but still too soft.
    They've fed him mainly egg.

I'm going to do rice and fish. Ice read sloppy rice. Is this literally just rice cooked in extra water?

Cook the rice as you would for yourself, but instead of straining it completely , scoop the rice out with a spoon so that you have it very watery , this way it can help to prevent dehydration :)

Well we had Eric to the vets. He didn't really do anything except weigh him (no weight loss) and stroke him!
He said he probably has IBS and is intolerant to his food. He gave us some medicine and told us to change his food.
His poo is back to normal and I haven't yet changed his food.

I'm not entirely convinced its his food that caused his upset tummy. He's been on Eukanuba forever with no problems. :/

Charlie developed an intolerance to chicken (of all things) even though he'd been fed a chicken based food since he was tiny. Apparently, so I was told at the time, this isn't unusual. I switched to a single protein source and single carbohydrate source food (two things he had never been fed before - duck and tapioca) and then reintroduced other proteins back into his diet to find out the problem was chicken. I kept him on the duck and tapioca, and have not had any more problems.
