Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie We'll all survive I'm sure, thanks for the moral support though I like Germany(although the penchant for pickling vegetables bemuses me ) but it'll be one of those places that could be anywhere.
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie The time will fly by, Barbara. Too bad you're not near Frankfurt - would definitely have dragged you out for a dog walk and meal!
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Will be thinking bout you and Lovely Charlie tomorrow...i know exactly what you mean about the physical ache...looking forward to hearing about his progress....please give us updates when you can tomorrow...cuillin and brodick send you all licks
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Fingers crossed that all goes well today, at last the waiting is over. Alice
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Just checking in.....hope everything is going well and you are all ok xxxx
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie All our love and positive thoughts going your way today. Be thinking of Charlie. x x x
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Thank you! I dropped him off and then drove back to London. He gave me a quick slurp goodbye and pulled the vet nurse towards the kennels - which needed to be investigated without delay - super exciting, lots of people to say hello to. I tried to give him a hug but he said "yeah, yeah, mum - later, ok" and zoomed off. They'll call when the op is over. Felt really funny driving back without him
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Well don't get used to using the bottom shelves... he'll be back soon enough to pinch everything again! Hugs for you all today.
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie I really am getting softer the older I get , been in tears thinking about Charlie and then you driving home without your chocolate friend x
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Me too! I was planning on going to work on the day Amy gets spayed but I don't think I will manage it! (I know, nothing compared to Charlie's op today!)
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Well, the surgery is over - the surgeon just called to say all is well and he was happy with how it all went, and pleased with the x-rays of the result. Charlie has a TTA rapid (I had left it to the surgeon to decide whether a TTA would be preferable, but a TTA rapid was fine so that was the one that was done). There was indeed a ruptured cruciate ligament (I know this was never in doubt, but it's normal to diagnose it under GA, which in Charlie's case had never been done - because everyone was sure without it) and all the ligament has now been removed. There was some damage to the cartiledge, which the surgeon has dealt with (I think this is more accurately described as sort of trimming, rather than a repair). Which is not great news, but not terrible either - the main problem is a damaged cartiledge that isn't dealt with - and the surgeon said in practice he doesn't see any difference in how dogs do depending on such damage. And nothing to indicate why Charlie did this. The surgeon at one point had said he wondered whether he might find some signs of OCD that hadn't shown up on the x-ray, but no, nothing. Which is good news. So, phew. Next step, so long as Charlie does ok overnight, we can pick him up midday tomorrow to take him to Greyfriars.
Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie Good news, you must be relieved. Rehab now and the time does pass surprisingly quickly, in no time you'll have the lovely Charlie hoolying around the place once more
