:). He says call the RSPCA, he's starved.

Given the risk of him doing the other one is increased by any excess weight, he can stay that way (so can't do this again - yet, anyway - there is a high likelihood I will have to though).

Remember that thread we had about the Australian extended breed standard saying the undercoat gives a matt finish to the top coat? Well, Charle's under coat is shiny! ;D ;D ;D

    Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie

    We're at 14 weeks! :) :) :)

Had a check up last night. He wasn't due for one, we were just popping in for boosters, but the lovely vet asked, and I said that I was still worried about him still protecting his leg (he takes care not to land on it, ever, if he hops over something) so he got a full exam and we trotted up and down the street so the vet could see.

Anyway, the vet said he thought everything was perfectly ok, and what we needs do now is "push him through it". By that he means get him really fit, build up that last 5 to 10% of missing muscle, and return to full fitness.

So, over the next two weeks, Charlie is going to walk up and down hills (OH is taking him to Cornwall) and start jogging with OH on lead, then the lead will come off. Luckily, Charlie used to jog at heel fine, hope he still does. I think OH has a new fitness regime starting! ;D

Then, he is to swim in the river and sea, but we're to go in with him and have him on lead getting in and out (brrrrr! good job we are sea swimmers and have wetsuits!) and by the end of the month he is to have 3 hours exercise a day - 3 x 1 hour consisting of 20 minute lead walk, 20 minute off lead, 20 minute lead walk.

No balls, frisbees, or playing with other dogs. He is still to stay on lead in the garden, as must warm up before and explosive exercise - and we have a LOT of squirrels in the garden.

    But nearly there! :) :) :)

A month or so, that's all there is left to go. :)

I can do that. Easy peasy.

Although if Charlie is to have 3 hours of exercise a day, it's a bloomin' good job I've a holiday coming up!

Very good job you've got a holiday coming up!! Not sure who's going to be fitter out of the three of you!

How many pairs of walking shoes/trainers are you going to need

Enjoy every minute, you've certainly all earned it x

I am doing the "return to fitness" plan now (instead of working!). My main objective is to calculate when Charlie can see Sam, and see Riley!

And go back to gundog lessons, and join a class, and, oh, everything! :)
