Yup. ::) It's probably the 5th or 6th rose bush he has chewed through at ground level over the last year. He is related to a beaver, I think. I'd love to replant in the gaps, but I reckon I'll wait a while...

Goodness me. Are (were) they a thornless variety?

No, hasn't put him off though! The ones he has successfully attacked aren't big old tough things though (thankfully those are at the front, out of harm's way - he'd probably try) - there used to be a good collection of patio roses, climbers, and so on.

Woody plant stems = vertical sticks that are conveniently held at one end so you don't even have to use your paw!

Blimey Julie, you've been rehabbing Charlie since I got Molly. A very long seven months.

You deserve a great normal summer. You'd think Charlie would show a little gratitude and not destroy your roses.

No doubt all on the forum are grateful too. And huge big thanks from me for the support.

I'm really happy for you all . Got your chocolate Charlie back to normal at last. Yippee. ;D

I bet you've never been so happy to see the destruction of a rose bush before as it means normality has resumed. ;D

It must feel so good to be able to let Charlie have free rein. Hope you have some lovely walks and play - and less rose pruning!

    Re: Lovely Chocolate Charlie

Ah, was it 10 months ago I wrote that this thread had come to an end at long last? It seems like longer. We've had the most fantastic time in those 10 months - we've been on holidays, and gundog holidays, failed to learn how to bring a dummy back (but got really, really good at victory laps now). We've had a blast. :)

Which is a good job, as we need something to look forward to...

Very sadly, Charlie has damaged his cruciate ligament in his left leg. So I've got to do it all again. The other mods have known for a few days, and have listened to me moan and wail on the mod's board until I felt strong enough to tell everyone else. Silly, really, but it took me a few days to come to terms with facing the whole six month recovery thing. Six months seems such very a long time, as I know others on the forum with dogs on restricted exercise know all too well.

Anyway, there we are. My lovely, lovely, Chocolate Charlie goes in for his second cruciate op on Monday. And so we start again....at least this time, it's six months, not nine months, as of course we don't have to wait for the operation this time. Got to look on the bright side and all that. :)

    Nooooooooo!

Oh, I really am so terribly, terribly sorry :'( :'(

    Poor Charlie, poor you :(

OK, deep breaths, you can do this. If anyone can, you can Julie.

Hugs and kisses and heaps of good luck to you all :*

Oh so sorry to hear the news Julie. That's so awful for you and poor Charlie. Poor little boy, it's so unfair. Forget that it's six months and just plan for a week at a time. You know you can do it, and so can Charlie. We're all here for you. Will be thinking of you and Charlie on Monday. Hugs from me and little licks from Juno
