Cry away and hug your puppy. Hope your ears survive the licking :)

    Have a safe trip.

I bet Charlie was so pleased to see you and you him.

Great that the surgeon was happy with the op.

I'm sure Charlie will have a wonderful time at greyfriars, swimming and being given lots of attention.

He will be home in no time and back to normal. ;D

Julie, what a relief that everything has gone to plan. I hope you had a lovely time with your boy, lots of hugs and licks.

I think I want to go to Greyfriars sounds like heaven :) I wonder do they take knackered rescue dog owners for recuperation ;D xxxx

    What a long day!

Everything was ok this morning, so we went to get him - nightmare journey in really heavy rain. He'd been very distressed at the vets, confused (might have been the drugs), depressed at wearing a cone, and refused to pee outside, and had peed in his kennel (of course immediately cleared up, and Charlie clean). It wasn't their fault, they were cuddling him and taking him out lots. :'( :'( :'(

We had a long consultation with the surgeon, and received detailed instructions (which in any event had already been emailed through to greyfriars). I'll write more on the recovery programme later, in case of interest.

He was very pleased to see us and immediately tried to jump on a chair, which more or less gave the surgeon a heart attack. ::) ::) ::)

We took him outside, and he relaxed enough with us to have a pee and a poo, though it was clearly uncomfortable for him to bend his knee, he managed.

It took him a while to get comfy in the car, but once he did he snoozed all the way to Greyfriars, only waking up to demand tummy rubs and sea biscuits.

Super impressed with Greyfriars. A vet he already knows (from hydro and other treatments) was waiting for him, and will spend the afternoon and evening with him in 121 care, before handing over tomorrow to someone else that Charlie already knows very well. Charlie had his bed waiting for him and in no time was on his back, very relaxed, getting tummy rubs, and having salmon bits dropped in his mouth. I left feeling he is going to be very well cared for. :) :) :) And he tried to nick her pen, so I know he is getting back to normal.

The surgeon said Greyfriars was the best place in the UK, so adding to my comfort level at leaving Charlie there.

I love the picture of Charlie on his back with salmon bits being dropped in his mouth ! It sounds a wonderful place. Hope you are comforted by the thought of how good it is and how comfortable he will be, when you miss Charlie. So glad everything is okay. Maggie X

I love Greyfriars and I've only read about it!!!!!! What a sensational place.

So glad that the worst bit is behind you all (and that it went well as far as the surgery goes) and that it's all improvement, improvement, improvement from here on :)

Yes, it feels like the worst is over, for sure.

I got a phone call last night, once Charlie was tucked up in bed, so say he had been asleep most of the afternoon, perked up for a play, toilet trip, and supper, and has been cuddled and was relaxed all evening. They described him "as good as gold, as normal". I swear that dog becomes an angel as soon as anyone else looks after him but me! Anyway, I get to visit tomorrow.

Yes, I'm so pleased and relaxed. And getting some work done - at last!

Today, they say he is doing just fine. Sleeping, getting cuddles, small trips out to keep up his mobility and go to the loo. He has to wear his cone because he won't leave the wound on his leg alone - but good news, his soft cone is working out ok, so at least he doesn't have to have the hard plastic one on.

He has a physio assessment tomorrow, and if all is still well, he'll start having ice packs on his leg.

So impressed by this place, really. The person monitoring him and looking after him yesterday was a qualified vet, with a special interest in pain relief.

I can see him at 11am tomorrow! Yippeee!

Is it really, really mean of me to wonder if they'd ever have any interest in advising the NHS??!

Hope your visit is a wonderful one, and that Charlie limits the enthusiasm and bounce of his greeting to protect the heart rates of the staff.

Only really just caught up with this.

So happy to hear that charlie is doing well, and obviously being pampered to high heaven with belly rubs, salmon strips and stealing pens ;D

Just think of how many lovely walks you will be having this time next year, and not to mention our meet up sometime in summer, i have 10 weeks off for summer this year, so lots of spare time to have a meet up :)
