That’s ok! :) Not a problem to start this thread. I will put a note in the other thread to let people know about this thread.

So sorry to hear this. Glad you caught it early though, that’s important. Sounds like the vet is positive, that’s the main thing!

Thank you all...just did a big rub down on her and feeling fairly confident there are no others. Bella was in a state of bliss. Lol

You all are very kind and your support does help.

I'm very sorry to hear that the one lump is cancerous. She's very lucky to have you, though, in that you pay so close attention to changes in her and thanks to you it was caught so early. It sounds like you have the best chance possible for a good outcome. She must be enjoying all the extra loving, too. :)

My friend has had two dogs with mast cell tumours and both dogs are fine, the tumours never recurred.

I'm sorry you've had this news. I've no personal experience, but a friend of mine has a dog that has had two small tumours removed and is doing just fine. No reoccurrence and she's getting up there now, around 11 years old.

Fortunately I have no experience of this. Thanks to your post though, I will be more vigilant checking Molly and Sam. Very best wishes for your lovely Bella x

Molly had a mast cell tumour on a mammary back in 2015, before she was spayed. She had it removed at the same time as her spay and thankfully it has never returned. She also recovered very easily from the op. I was told just to examine her thoroughly once a week, which I do, and go straight back to the vet if any more occur.

I hope this encourages you and that your girl has the same good experience.

A guy I pass every day on my walk always stops for a chat. (I guess we are no longer strangers!) He mentioned a couple of weeks ago that his staffie had a mast cell tumor on her side, arrived out of the blue. Said she had a big margin removed and it never recurred. Dog lived to an old age.

I don’t remember why this topic of conversation came up between me and this guy, but I do hope his dog’s experience gives you hope. Best of luck, it is such a worry when things happen to our precious family members.

Thank you all for your words of support and encouragement. I do appreciate the success stories...I need them for hope as I await Bella’s prognosis.

Surgery will take place in a couple hours. Hoping and praying for the best.

Thank you all again...so glad I found you.

Vet just called...all mostly went well. Bella is wide awake and ready to come home. Keeping her from bothering her stitches could be a chore as she cannot wear a collar since an area was removed from her neck.

Bella’s kidney values were slightly elevated. The vet thinks this could be due to dehydration. Thinking back to last night and the last time she had water, it would make sense. Bella went to bed around 9:30 and I am not sure how much water she had prior to that time. This feels like another huge worry to add to the list. My previous chocolate lab (Hershey) had elevated kidney levels her entire life. It drove me crazy with worry for a while until she got old and I figured out she must not have kidney failure...or possibly one kidney was bad. She lived to be 15. I can’t believe I could be back on that ride again. Vet will recheck in 2 weeks when we go back to remove stitches.

Until then, I need to figure out a way to not feel so sad and stressed. Christmas is almost here and I have children who need me at my best.

Will keep you posted...thank you for caring.

    Jenny
