Phew! So glad it went well....I'm sure it's a load off your mind. I'm sure Dexter will love a little play time with other dogs...would love to do that for Simba too but just not the funds at the moment. :( Oh well visits to the dog park will do just fine for now!

Thankyou all , feeling like I've got my equilibrium back a bit again now .... Well until the next lunge then equilibrium goes a bit horizontal when you are pulled off your feet !!! He he he
Lisa the park is going to do Simba just fine ...after the restrictions brought on by your winter climate he's going to love meeting other dogs in that outside area , it's goung to be a massive option for socialising and exercising, oh and don't forget you have such beautiful countryside and walks you can take him in , he's got plenty in his life for sure x
I got really lucky with the daycare place I've gone with, they waived the assessment fee as dexter gets groomed there and she charges by the hour ... Which is great for how I want to use it , I know it can be a good hit in the picket though x

Ah, so glad you are feeling better about things - isn't it odd the way the trials of bringing up these young dogs can get to us? No, the lovely Dex isn't a lunging aggressive beast after all, but is of course the lovely, lovely Dex who is going to enjoy his play dates! ;D I'm exactly the same!

    Lordy.....the next episode ......
Dexters evening walk ended up being a complete lead walk tonight as the park I get an opportunity to sneakily let him off in was hosting a party/picnic......can you imagine!
No problem,he had a great desert off lead run this morn so off we go...I'm really being 'mindful' of my behaviour and the last couple of days every encounter has been manageable as I think I've behaved better :D
We turn for home, all good, when out of nowhere a loose dog comes running up from behind me and jumps on Dexter    they had a little tumble, this dog does a proper play bow....Dex does his half hearted ,lack of manners ::) effort and they start having a good natured hoolie .....although Dex still on his lead as we are alongside the main perimeter road of my estate  if ever there was a sign from god that I haven't got an aggressive dog ;D, thankyou! ;D thankyou ;D
I got Dexter into a sit long enough to get a lead on this dog ...( previous experiences of random dogs has me carrying a spare lead ???) and then I could just about manage to read the phone number to ring the owner.....who as usual wasn't that perturbed.....'Oh,he's got out again?'people??!!!
Tested me for sure, but in a good way :D.....dogs name was Argo and he was a very bouncey, enthusiastic, cutie x

How inconsiderate of people to have a picnic/party on the park at walk time ;)

Glad Dexter has proven himself to you today, he sounds lovely :)

Well done Angela and Dexter the definitely NON aggressive dog :). I can't believe people are so lax about their dogs in Dubai considering how difficult it is to own one in the first place with all the rules and anti dog behaviour  xx

Well done dexter. Well done Angela. ;D

I told Lisa about a new book ive just got. I know you've just bought some Angela but I did think about your original post when i was reading it.

It's click to calm healing the aggressive dog by Emma Parsons a Karen Pryor clicker book. Now I'm in no way suggesting Dex is aggressive. It an unfortunate title as it would be very useful for excitable exuberant dogs. There is a very interesting section on how to clicker train your dog to be calm when you are stressed. For example if you automatically tighten the lead when another dog is about because you think your dog will lunge it tells you how to teach your dog to look at you when the lead tightens. It also has a section on clicker training your dog doggy manners.

However it sounds like Dex is doing brilliant as he is . :D
