Oh I've just read Fiona's story about Jemma and now see Mabel has had trouble ,I'm so glad it wasn't more serious ,you must have got a big fright, I'm glad Mabel doesn't seem unnerved by it and it sounds like you stayed really clam at the time getting yourselves out of trouble. That will have helped her deal with it so well for sure.
These dog attacks frighten me just reading about them x

How is Mabel now? I hope you have managed to have a few nice walks since. Have the dog wardens been in touch at all?
When Harley was attacked they said if she had been on lead and the other one off that they would take action, but because both were off lead they wouldn't. It sounds like you had Mabel on lead so they should take action.

I am so sorry for Mabel and you as it happened to my lab puppy Bram of 16 weeks yesterday. A man with a Staffie and Jack Russell walked towards us and Bram was nicely waiting for the big dog to pass and suddenly the Staffie attacked him. A puppy!! Poor Bram was screaming and crying and the man took his dog by the back legs and finally he let go. Bram ran up to me immediately and I am proud of him as he did bite back - he lost 2 of his baby teeth in this "fight". As we walked to the car he was very quiet and today we will walk again, hoping to meet some nice dogs to restore Bram's faith in grown up dogs. Hope you and Mabel are enjoying nice walks again soon!

Naya I'm still waiting to hear from the council, according to their website they always respond to complaints about aggressive dogs.
Marjan oh no how dreadful for Bram. I can imagine how quiet he was it's so scary.
We've had some nice walks although she's definitely more nervous than before despite my positively. Yesterday we went on the monthly group walk that's arranged by my trainer which was brilliant for her, she had a great time and we all went to the pub afterwards.

snowbunny she's a little nervous today. As we approached some bushes this morning she really wasn't happy but then the wind really doesn't help, I'm not overly concerned, she was lucky because just as the staffie dug his teeth in her neck the owner had grabbed her dog not giving it time to really take hold.

I hope your mum is okay and poor Jen is on the mend. X

Thank you. I'm glad mum wasn't there to see it and that Jem managed to get away before my 75-year-old Dad got involved. Who knows what would have happened if the dog had turned on him. Jemma is more upset that she's not getting walks and has to wear a stupid soft cone - although mum has ingeniously put it on back-to-front, which gives her a lot more freedom without the cone getting in the way. She does look a bit like she has a hairdresser's cape on, though.

I'm a bit on the other side at the moment, too - something I will write up when I get two minutes - and Shadow has been rather nasty to a couple of male dogs (including the forum's very own softie Harv), but since I've finally worked out the trigger, I can come up with a plan to deal with it, and in the meantime keep him on lead when there are unfamiliar boys around.

snowbunny you'll work it out because you're responsible, I think apart from the actual attack it's such a scary thought that there are so many irresponsible owners about.
Mabel has just been a horror, we have just returned from hydrotherapy and she's bounced out the car, down the drive and across the road (okay it's a tiny cul de sac but still a road) along the green by the brook to go and play with another dog. No recall what so ever. Plus we have been practicing getting out of the car in a slow and controlled manner. Which didn't work either. Luckily we know the young owner.
She's definitely beginning to put any nervousness behind her.
