Oh poor thing. I'm glad you got her in to see a specialist.

What is the treatment for the ulcer? They can be tricky things, I think.

My Callum had an ulcer on his eye and he had the operation. He was fine and you couldn't tell he'd had it done - his eye looked completely normal. But having the op saved his eye.

(Thank goodness for insurance, the bill was £7000 amd all I paid was the excess!)

All the best for Maisie xx

The treatment for the ulcer at the mo is just some eyedrops called chloramphenicol.

We didnt actually really discuss the ulcer, other than to say if it got infected then we would have a big problem. I think i will do some research into them tonight as have only been reading about entropion.
She seems to have gone back to squinting again :( x

Maisie had her op today. Got back him with her about an hour ago . She's very whiny and won't settle just wandering around. She's got a cone on. The op went well and her ulcer has already started to improve from the eyedrops she gave us on mon, so she is confident now we have taken away the rubbing it will be fine. She said she was tempted to take a little off her other eye but she decided to wait and see how she grows as it might be fine.
She has done a poo since she's been back but cried when she did it and spun around but I'm guessing it's because She would have had her temperature taken a lot today. She also did the scooting thing she's never done before.

She's crying a lot and won't settle :( I am half tempted to sleep downstairs with her tonight x

My Maisie is also a cone-head at the moment and she sends her condolences to your Maisie for her human being so ridiculous as to put such a monstrosity on her head as well… but she says, chin up, and use your cone head shame to get some extra treats out of your human and all will be well!

I find my girl gets a bit shell shocked when the cone is put on… I put it on for walks and when she goes in her crate, and when I put it on for walks and try to get her to come outside, she just stands there staring and I have to pick her up to get her out the door. Can just freak them out a little bit. Hope she recovers well!

    Re: Maisies here!

Good morning. Last night was ok. She started off settled in her crate so I went to bed upstairs, she whined at 12 so I went down and let her out. During her op she was on fluids so I guess she might need a few extra wee's to start with. She then went back in her crate ok so I went back to sleep and then she whined a lot at 4 and wouldn't settle after a wee so I slept on the sofa, but she still wouldn't settle for ages and was just whining and running around. She eventually settled back in her crate.
This morn she is very very whiny and I think a bit hyper, she won't leave Murphy alone, barking at him and growling and jumping on him. And she's meant to rest for first 24hours.
She has 2 different size cones, a smaller one for when we are with her and a bigger one for when she is left, but even in her big one she is able to rub her face on things which she can't to because of all the tiny fragile stitches in her eye so she's only worn the big one.
She's had some metacam this morn so hopefully that will take away any pain she might be in. She seems so small at 14 weeks to be having an operation!

Quick question- I've noticed some discharge from her vulva. It has sort of gone crusty on the fur around it. Is this normal? Other than that she is fine (ignoring her eye!).

Oh dear, Frankie you are having a time of it! Just catching up now. Glad to hear the eye is getting better, but I would be calling the vet about the discharge right away. I have never had a bitch but I do know about the dangers of pyro and would get some advice on this right away.

    Re: Maisies here!

Is it discharge or just dried wee? Willow was a bit rubbish at cleaning herself down there when she was little, so it could sometimes look a bit crusty! She had no actual discharge, though, so was nothing to worry about and she grew out of it.

Oh maybe it's that Fiona. Especially as with the cone on she can't clean herself down there!
