I must give off a "I want to practise recalls" signal - so we're mooching round the garden and I'm kindof watching to see when she's wandered off a bit but she's not too absorbed, so I can practise a recall - so she has taken to sitting down and waiting from me to wander away for a bit and then when I look round to see where she is, she is just sitting there looking at me expectantly saying yes I'm ready for you to whistle now. cracks me up
Always makes me laugh when Juno does something like that as well . When training in the garden Juno's latest is sneaking up behind me when she's meant to be in a sit/stay. I turn round and she's about 6 feet behind me and gives me such an adoring look - sort of I just couldn't wait for you to call me , and also her own version of me being out of sight. She puts herself in a sit/stay as I'm walking around the garden and walking towards the back of the house and out of sight. Once she can't see me she waits for a call and comes charging to join me .
I'll take my phone with me and try to get a photo but Juno loves cameras and comes and puts her face right in them
That's harder when its a proper sit/stay that you want - you could maybe try using a little platform to practise on - at least you know when they move. I remember watching someone with a wee spaniel and every time he turned his back on her and walked away, she would quickly creep forward and every time he turned back she would freeze and there was no way he would have known she'd moved
She does it from a down stay as well. I think it's just Juno fooling around , particularly as she keeps coming even when I've turned round . By rights I should know when she's moving as she has a bell on her collar, a tip from my trainer when Juno was first off lead in public to help calm fears , but she manages to sneak along with no noise. Do dogs have a sense of humour as I'm convinced she thinks it's funny
