image by Fwhitt246, on Flickr My sisters friend rescued this chap and his/her litter mates and a whole other litter who were going to be chucked in a river! From the same place she also rescued two pet rabbits who were going to be killed and eaten! So how could i say no to a little friend for murphy!?
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) Awww what a sweetie! How lucky to be rescued like that!
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) So pleased they were all rescued, well done you for offering this little one a home x
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) Lovely kitten Does the rspca know about this hot spot? Thank goodness her rescue antanae was tuned in.
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) meeting update So weve had kitten (still dont know sex) about 4 hours. Theyve slept a lot and not eaten much or gone to the loo (to my knowledge!). Anyway, he/she isnt bothered by murphy at all and he just keeps licking them. But, Murphy is acting a little weird towards us even though we are acting completely normal towards him. Hes been a bit panty and wont sit on the sofa with us like he normally does even when the kitten is near. Also, the kitten just walked towards him and he jumped away lol like he was scared. We are giving them lots of time apart so they can just see eachother but not get to eachother. Of course i know that murphy will find it a little odd for a bit but my husband is worried that murphy will be really unhappy and think we dont love him :/
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) It must be really hard to sex a kitten....I had no idea! This site has some pics that might help http://www.pet-informed-veterinary-advice-online.com/sexing-kittens.html I wouldn't be too worried at this stage about Murphy's reaction to the kitten He doesn't know what it is and doesn't know if it's dangerous or not. He is just anxious, but in time he will see that there is nothing to worry about. You can help by giving him nice treats when the kitten is in sight. No need to get him to do anything - just hand over treats for free. He definitely won't think that you don't love him or are trying to replace him with another pet Don't worry about that for a second. Just act as normal as you can, give him lots of attention and treats and give him time to get used to this strange new furry thing in his life.
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) Oh bless, how sweet Don't worry about Murphy, he will soon get used to the kitten and they will probably end up great friends.
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) When I was a teenager my old yellow lab found three abandoned kittens in the wood, when on an evening walk with me. I brought them home in my pockets and my wooly hat to my mother (she was not best pleased, but put a good face on it). All three kittens grew up, two went to lovely homes and we kept one, William, who was the best cat I have ever known. We had three dogs, none of whom liked cats. But they all accepted the kittens, and our Jack Russell (well-known as a cat chaser) became their surrogate mother! Similarly, I have rescued and rehomed several kittens over the years from France. (I can't really keep any, because our garden backs on to a busy road, and cats that wander tend to get squashed ). Both Billy and Bones accepted the kittens while I was looking after them - Billy never liked them, but just put up with them. Bones used to play with them, terribly sweet! So I echo Rachael and Pippa - Murphy will soon get used to Harry/Millie. Just give him space and a bit of time.
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) I also agree , Murphy is just confused and will soon get used to the kitty , I would love another cat, but with Millie being an older terrier, well ........... :
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) Just been and sort vet nurse at the vets and she is 99% sure she is a girl. So just need a name now as not sure of Millie :/ also thought of Matilda or May. Hmmm Murphy isn't so bothered by her now as I have given him a big bacon flavoured rawhide chew and he's carrying it around everywhere with him following me lol.
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) That's great Bacon makes everything better. And good to hear that you can now settle on a name!
Re: Meet Harry/Millie (sex currently unknown!) Ok Saw the vet this morning and after much deliberation and second opinions Millie is now a boy! So called Harry!!
