He says you can feel it under the sheet and it crinkles up and feels uncomfortable  I suggested he could sleep in the spare bed but he didn't seem that keen on that idea :D

my microwave is essential for defrosting Coco's roast beef treats in the morning. Or a sausage. And warming plates. Though reflecting on it, that's a lot pf space taken up for very little use.

Off to buy a fridge freezer now - ours has packed in. Thank heavens it's cold - all my chilled stuff is in bags & boxes in the garden. And the chicken we just bought is swinging from my motorbike handlebars.

The chicken is on the handlebars of your motorbike? I’m glad you’re not in Adelaide at the moment then. In the coming week we’re expecting temperatures of 34 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, your chicken may be cooked by the time you get back from the shop!

Wow. I never even considered this. I sometimes turn the oven on just for warm plates. I'm going to do this every day now. thanks @SteffiS for useful thread :D:D:D:D
(Just plates on their own, or a little bowl of water on top?)

As per Leejane’s post, could those who use the microwave for plate warming please elaborate with the method? :) Sounds handy!

Put plates in microwave. Turn it on. Done :D

My sister bought me some. Useful, for someone who doesn't have a microwave :cwl:

So you need extra equipment. Might just stick with the cold plates too then :) If we have visitors for dinner we sometimes warm plates in the oven.

So you don’t need extra equipment? You can just blast the unadorned plates?

Yup! I always did. From memory (it's been a long time), they went in for about a minute. When I first tried, I used moist kitchen towel between them, but you don't need it. Just the plates and a microwave. Ba da bing :D

our (cheap, old) microwave has a plate warming function - put plates in (2 or 4) press number of plates (2 or 4) off it goes. I THINK it does one and a half minutes on high for 2. I always do it twice - I like HOT plates.
