Sat on the bed, working, and enjoying a mid-morning snack of cashews. Willow at my feet, drooling. Shadow completely uninterested. It's not that he doesn't have a normal Labrador appetite, but he's very suspicious of new foods, if they're not obviously tasty.

I give him one. He spits it out. I give it to Willow.
I give him another. He spits it out. I give it to Willow.
This goes on, until he decides maybe he will roll it around his mouth a little. Spit it out. Pick it up. Roll it around. Repeat. Then... a little chew. Realisation spreads over his little face as he chews and chews and chews on this single cashew.

I now have two dogs, drooling over my feet and laptop.

    HATES Walnuts.
    LIKES Peanuts.

Haven't tried him on cashews yet.

We won't be telling them about Brazil nuts. Mmm, one of my favourites. Those and macadamia nuts.Definitely too expensive for pooches. I looked into growing Brazil nuts because I like them so much. Yeah, that' not going to happen. Life is far too short. Did you know, though, that Brazil nuts aren't nuts at all? They're seeds formed inside a fruit. More information for the interested: http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/nut-trees/brazil-nut/how-to-grow-brazil-nut-trees.htm

I've read that Macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs.

Snowie LOVES almonds. Chews each one carefully.

Well, it seems you're right. As are walnuts, so it's a good job Pongo turns his nose up at them!

My two also like almonds, straight from the tree, still in their shells. Crunchy.

I love almonds, grabbing a handful a few x per day. It's ok to throw one to the dog now and again?

My neighbor has a hazelnut tree. Branches reaches unto our property. Finn likes to be in the garden eating hazelnuts in their shell. Crunchy....

Fwiw the AKC website says almonds are toxic for dogs and to be safe avoid nuts in general.
