Just thought I would say hello. We got our lovely lab pup on Saturday, he is settling in really well. However, could do with some top tips about humping (sorry). He has a new found fascination with a blanket, loves chewing it and humping it. I’m more of a cat expert than dog. From reading it sounds like excitement, but I can’t read how to stop it, or if I should. Happy if it’s normal behaviour, but if it is something I need to sort, I’d rather deal with it now. Hi there, a very warm welcome the forum! Although less common in new puppies, humping is something many male dog owners deal with. And occasionally female dog owners! It might be a displacement activity from having moved to a new home and being a little stressed, but he could just be enjoying himself There are a few choices, but basically you can remove the object he's humping, or you can ignore him! Enjoy your lovely puppy, and do let us know how you are both getting along!
