LOL, he's too smart, I can't keep up. I mentionned giving in to a demand for attention in this thread just yesterday: http://thelabradorforum.com/forum/n.../271685-lab-eating-everything-even-tea-towels I think Oban was reading over my shoulder as he swiped a pair of gloves and pranced around with them last evening. So I followed my own advice and played chase. I chased one way, then I stopped and chased the other way. Then I got really smart (I thought) and chased in one direction around and around, kitchen, dining room, living room, hall - repeat, repeat, repeat. We were both running. Ah, my plan was going according to plan (I thought). Then, quick, I did another change of direction and got him going backwards. Gotcha, (I thought). And the little devil pulled a change of direction himself and ended up chasing me. LOL, LOL, so much fun. Yes, I got back my gloves, rather wet and slobbery but not chewed, and Oban got a couple of really good treats for delivering them to me.
I have to admit to playing chase with Dexter in our garden....it's his favourite thing ever.....he canters round in a a circle like a circus pony .....I chase him and change direction and play bow with him....there are times when I change direction and play bow at just the right time and he actually leaps over me....It' probably not a great thing to encourage but it hasn't messed up him bringing things to me and dropping when I want .......
I think as they get older they begin to understand the difference between play and when they are being asked for a certain behaviour. if you're like me you running around laughing which probably is the best cue for them for play. Have to say I would love to see you play bowing and Dexter jumping over you
