Hi we have a chocolate lab called libby and the last couple of days she has been off her food completely and is struggling to goto the toilet she motions to go but there is nothing there she has started panting heavily as well. She is booked into the vet today but wondering what this could be.For her not to come jumping on the bed in there morning where its tea and biscuit time is very worrying and just has no interest in her food bowl. Libby is just over 10 yrs.old
I`m sorry to hear this, how worrying for you . It could be a great number of things , which we cant diagnose I`m afraid, but hopefully you will get some answers at your Vets today, please let us know how you get on with Libby and good luck .
Hello and welcome to the forum. It certainly sounds very worrying. If it's still a while until your appointment, I'd phone and get it escalated to an emergency appointment. If it's a blockage, it could be very dangerous indeed. Please do let us know what the vet says.
Hi all believe it or not it was a piece of bark stuck in her bottom sideways poor girl I still amazes me how labs can be in so much discomfort but are still so loving and still want their belly rubs. Anyways she is back eating and settled now. Obviously happened while she was on her walk and scavenging for food.
It's good that the problem was diagnosed quickly and she's now eating again. You must be very relieved.
So happy you know what happened and it's been sorted, hope she has a speedy recovery. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about dogs and sticks. My lovely rescue boy had an almost fatal freak accident 2 weeks ago involving a stick, he doesn't scavenge or even play with sticks x
