I'm so sorry to hear your news, Lauren. It's not the outcome any of us were hoping for. Give your other dog a big cuddle - he'll help you through your grief.
I'm sorry. I'm so Sorry. This maybe premature but you were so worried about your other pup. I have had very close attachments between pets, cats and dogs. I firmly believe it benefits the one who is left to be able to see and sniff the body of the one who has died. I brought Jet home from the Vet, we set her little body, wrapped in blankets, on a bench. We brought out the cats and allowed them to see. One had been very, very attached to Jet. When I haven't done that I have had the remaining one calling out, searching, straying as if to look for the missing one. I don't know any other way you can tell an animal that their friend is gone. My neighbour's little dog looked for her human Mum for two months, it was very sad. How do you tell a dog, "Mum's gone, she's not coming home" any other way? I'm sorry for the long writing but I hope it might help.
My other dog doesn't seem to bothered at the moment she has kept her distance from Molly for a few days I think she knew
