My latest guest star: Tibor the Border Collie (or "How I Became a Seeing-Eye Human")

Well, can you believe it? Tibi has been adopted! Not a long-term foster, but honest-to-goodness adopted! It all happened over the weekend - rescue head stuck his story up on FB yet again but this time through a fluke of the inter webs, it was shared over a thousand times. One of those who saw the posting was a woman who had had a rescue dog from Romania who looked just like Tibi. Her dog had passed and she took one look at Tibi's photos and decided he was it.

Rescue head spent three hours on the phone with the prospective adopter, checked her out through mutual connections and decided it was the perfect place for Tibi. She will also drive to the adopter's home on Friday to personally do a home check and make sure Tibi is settling into his new home.

Tibi's new mama has three other dogs, all rescues, at least one using a wheelchair (or I guess for a dog it's more of a "wheel cart") and one who is also blind. She works at home, lives in the country and has a large enclosed garden.

She was anxious to have Tibi as soon as possible, so a friend of hers who was in the Regensburg area yesterday was able to pick Tibi up and drive him to his new home, 500 km away in western Germany. So after all that worrying, Tibi now has a forever home AND was only with foster mom #2 for one night.

It was a tough summer, but a happy ending (or beginning!) after all.

Oh wow that is so heartwarming What a beautiful ending, and there's definitely a lesson to be learned here - even those we think are lost causes are precious in someone else's eyes.

You really need to start a new thread just about the Labratour. We want to be able to track your plans and progress. I'm envisaging a map with pins in it...... @snowbunny I'm sure that is possible, isn't it?

 

Pongo says he doesn't do cuddles but he has a vast quantity of hair to donate to you. Wear black.

 

I definitely will start a Labratour thread. Not sure how to swing a map, but I can manage words and photos.

 

Excellent. He can roll around a bit in my car as well - sadly all my Toby hair has disappeared, so I need a fresh infusion. A hairless car is just wrong.

Such happy news, and almost a miracle.

Hoping with all my heart that he has absolutely found the right forever home.
