Oh I like the idea of training Mira to bring the post through...

Aw Debsie that is a great idea, "get the post" might stop him barking at the letter box ::). We do have a post box very close. Hmm loving the sound of all these Charlie jobs ;D I bet Brods looks so clever taking your post to the box and bless him for trying to post it too - I love it :D xx

    Re: My Little Helper ;)

Hi everyone, the post has just arrived I asked Charlie for the first time to "get the post" and he did one by one, 4 letters and a couple of leaflets brought into my hand :D Perhaps I should throw washing and post for him to retrieve on a walk ::) ::) His talents obviously lie else where ;D xx

Such a clever dog Charlie well done. ;D

If I sent S&S for the post 4 letters would become 100 pieces. ;). As for washing, socks would definitely disappear. ::)

    Clever boy Charlie!
I just started trying this with Mira. She struggles to pick up stuff lying flat on the tiled floor, so I have been practising by propping things against the door. Unfortunately they don't always land that way naturally :-\

Clever Charlie! It took brods a while not to Instantly Shred everything. His reward for bringing the post to me is being enthusiastically handed an emptied envelope to shred happily...

    Re: My Little Helper ;)

Charlie is successfully bringing me the post every day, it's tricky too as we have wooden floors, so he manouvers the post until he can scoop it up with his paw and get it into his mouth, not a mark on our mail so far or drool!!!

Can you think of anything else I could train him to do just for fun and to give him some jobs? Thanks xx

    That IS good Helen! 8)
I suppose there is the traditional "fetch my slippers" or lead? or shoes?
Maybe teach him to put things IN to a plastic or paper recycling bag/bin?? ;D

I am guessing the "go get me a glass of wine" command is still a bit down the line ;)

Oh I like the recyling suggestion Jac as Charlie can open the recyling bin lid ;D He tends to run off with the persons slippers that has left the house for some strange reason. Thinking 'get my keys'. David can train the 'get me a glass of wine' as I don't drink but since having Charlie I think I need to and in large quantities  x

How about tidying up his toys into a box?
Mira does know specific names for some of her toys; lambie, tuggy etc but we only send her to find them. We're not tidy enough to keep them together in a box ::) :D
