    Hello,

I posted the following thread which was locked lastnight. I was currently caring for the pup from my local animal shelter because his mother is really sick and couldn't do so. In the message by the mod it was made out like I took him away from his mother before he was 7 weeks old which is not the case here.

I really don't see why it was locked but I guess i"ll move on now.

Thanks everyone for being so nice to me here!

Hi Dano, the moderator comment is just a standard message that should be applied to all messages that involve under-age puppies, because the forum cannot be seen to be condoning the trade in young puppies. We realise that it's not the case in this situation, but still felt that the message had to be applied. No-one is judging you and we know that you are doing the best thing for this puppy, but the mod team felt that the message had to be applied for consistency and for the sake of anyone else who might come across the thread and be encouraged to source a very young puppy from an unscrupulous breeder. This is a very supportive forum with lovely members, so I do hope that you continue to contribute in the future. I'm sure everyone would love to see Chubbs growing up.

I understand that it is annoying to have your thread removed but this:
    is completely untrue

    This
    is what I said.

I added that explanation beneath the mod note to make it quite clear that no blame is attached to @Dano

Although I can understand the forum should not be seen to encourage under age pups, it does seem that locking a thread is unhelpful for someone who may desperately need help for their pup. Perhaps there could be a way that a moderator could private email with some help and advice?

I understand that every forum have rules but I just don't understand why my thread was locked. It's not like I was asking for cash or asking for help to care for him etc. I am sorry if I broke any of the rules on this forum and I will find another forum where I feel like i'm welcomed to post about my new puppy.

I was really enjoying this forum and the members were all friendly.

The problem is that the main comment section on the site has piles of questions and requests for help for puppies as young as 1, 2, 3 weeks. These are truly heartbreaking. Puppies are dying because they leave their mothers too soon. :(

I completely appreciate that this post didn't fall into the bucket of a trade in underage puppies - but no post ever seems to be straightforward. All posters have a reason why they have an underage puppy. The mother died and the owner needed to take the puppy is the most common reason given.

I know this seems difficult, but it has been agonised over, and we have to keep our eye on the big picture. This isn't about this post, or this puppy, it's about the forum not being a resource that supports the trade in under age puppies.

@Dano - I know what your reasons are for having an underage puppy. The trouble is, everyone always has a reason - no doubt many, like you, are genuine. But others are not, or they have simply been duped into buying an underage puppy. This means someone has made money out of it, and the trade will continue.

We do hope you will stay, @Dano , and believe me we discussed very carefully whether we could leave your post unlocked. I am sorry that you are upset, but ultimately we felt we could not have a clear rule, laid down for the very specific reason that we want to make it clear we cannot condone the trade in underage puppies (even though we realize this is not what happened in your case), and then not enforce it. If we allowed your post to go unchallenged, it would look to anyone from the outside that we think it is actually ok to take on a puppy at such a young age.

Chubbs looks gorgeous, and whether you stay with the forum or not we wish you and him all the very best.
