Hi, My name is Sue (saf6m) My 15 month old chocolate lab runs from me whenever she can get out of the house. If the doorbell rings and we open the door, she rushes out and will not come back to me when I call her. She completely ignores me. She is going farther and farther away each time. I am so frightened that she will be struck by a car as she isn't aware of the danger of automobiles in the roadway, or she will run so far away that we will lose her completely. I need help in how to train her not to run.
    Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue, Welcome to the forum!

There are two separate issues here, I think.

The first is that you need to prevent her from coming out the door when you open it - so put a tall baby gate across the corridor or shut her in another room. Make sure everyone else in the family is on the same page. Prevent her from accessing the door, and she won't be able to get out and into difficulties :)

The second is working on the recall. You can find lots of recall training tips here, and i'd also check out the Kikopup channel on YouTube.

Let us know how you get along!
