Aggh!! OH has had his parents over to stay for 3 days - the very week we brought the over-exuberant Coco home - VERY bad timing IMHO, we'd had him for 5 days only when they arrived - luckily he is VERY good in the house. We had to have both dogs sleeping in our (tiny) bedroom with us. They are both "experts" at everything and know better than anyone else. She is giving me her dog-training advice (Think Barbara Woodhouse!), because they have had 3 dogs - she herself said their JRT was "untrainable", and telling me how dogs are pack animals and how OH must be "pack-leader". And because we had to "entertain" them all day Coco has not had any real training since Thursday. Then she managed to leave the door to the spare loo slightly open - which is where I store stuff that hasn't any space to go away properly, and we came home to find a split-open and much eaten bag of plain dog-mixer food and, horror of horrors, a tin of cocoa powder, opened and spilled over the floor....then further round a pile of dog-sick. I don't think he has eaten much of the cocoa powder, the tin was almost full still, & he has shown no ill effects, but it could have been tragic. He has done mound and mounds of huge, soft poo since. I realise it is really my fault for not storing the stuff better, but GRRRRRR. And relax - we now have waved them off.
Oh dear poor you, at least they've gone. It never ceases to amaze me how many dog experts there are around, the old school type are the worst
You have my sympathies. Hope Coco is feeling better soon after his binge on the mixer food and cocoa. I remember my Italian Spinone once chewing his way into a tub of SlimFast chocolate flavour meal replacement mix. Luckily he had no reaction go it apart from a raging thirst (he drank 2 bowls of water without hardly pausing for breath) and funny coloured poo.
my father in law came to stay with his wife for 3 week when he had an eye op.....................do I need to say anything? 3 weeks 3 weeks 3 s***ing weeks. still seeing a therapist, I lived in the garden and had loads on long dog walks
You have my sympathies! Everyone's an expert, but when they're staying with you ... yes, long dog walks are definitely the order of the day
