I'd just add to read through the posts on the puppy behaviours, especially those like me, that are going through the crocopup stage. This is not to put you off but to prepare you as I was totally unprepared for it and came accross this forum after our puppy started biting. I was so relieved to find out that it's normal and I'm not alone. So many people on here to lend an ear when you think you have one hell of a crazy puppy.

This forums great for good behavioural and training ideas and the people are very friendly. Its very reasuring to find a site like this its not so lonely and you realise you are not on your own. Books and stuff are great but they don't tell the whole truth andon here you find that everyone is willing to share their experiences honestly. I've really enjoyed reading the posts and finding out that I'm not the only one who feels the same way animals as I do. Enjoy your pup sometimes its hard sometimes its not, but always the good bits out weigh the bad. I'd never be without my dogs best thing I ever did

Welcome from Belle, Coco and me - I can't add anything to the previous brilliant advice - we've always had adult dogs - Coco is the nearest to a pup at 16 months - he is a BIG handful at the moment. Good luck with your new puppy, whatever breed you finally go for.

I'm a bit slow saying hi so now you've had lots of suggestions of things to think about already.
    Good luck with your search

Hi there and welcome! You are starting off right, by researching and looking at all the pros and cons of puppy ownership! This forum, the Labrador Site, and Pippa's books are truly wonderful resources that you will turn to time and time again, I'm so glad you found us!

Welcome from me and Wispa (yellow lab, nearly four) and Tuppence (black lab, just two).

There's only one more thing I would add to all the excellent advice you've already had: check whether the puppies' parents have been tested for exercise-induced collapse (EIC).

Good luck in your deliberations - all the fun you'll have with your lab will outweigh the shedding!
