Hi, We are picking up our new lab pup on Saturday when he will be 10 weeks old. He has had his first set of jabs and if i am correct the second set will be due when he is 12 weeks old? When we get him home we want to start training him to go to the loo outside asap. Is it safe to let him outside before his second set of jabs? Thanks
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Hiya. The pup is ok to go in a secure garden, but shouldn't be walking in public places until 7-10 days after the second jab. This helps protect pup from picking up infections etc. I trained Harley to go outside from the day we got her which was at 7&1/2 weeks old. Has pup got a name yet? Good luck Ternaya and Harley (19 weeks old)
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? thanks for the reply, yes his name is Nero and he is a stunning black lab Will he be ok if i take him to my parents house? (they have a king Charles spaniel) their dog has had his booster jabs
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Yes this should be fine , they are ok to mix with vaccinated dogs , its good way to start socialising them Welcome to the forum , look forward to hearing about your puppy adventures
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Hi there and welcome to you and Nero! Remember to make sure the KC spaniel has an 'escape area' - older dogs can find puppies a bit of a trial.
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Hello from us - welcome. How exciting, more new puppies on the forum! Take pictures, we love pictures.
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Thanks for the replies I will post up some pics when we bring little Nero home
Re: New pup - when can he go outside? Welcome!! You can also take Nero out and about anywhere as long as you carry him. Gentle pats from friendly strangers are a good thing Just avoid contact with strange dogs or the ground in public places.
