Hello, We are getting our new Puppy Bella this week, she is a black American Lab and will be 17 weeks. She went through the super citizen training at the place she comes from during the last 5 weeks. We got a large crate for her and some toys, we already have a 13 years old pup and we know that she will be ok with her has we already had a puppy for 2 weeks at home when our daughter came to visit last December. I was wondering if there was any suggestions that anyone would give us? Cordially, Bruno and Korbie
Hi @Bruno Le Galloudec Introduce the puppy and the older dog on neutral territory. Perhaps on a walk. Introduce them slowly. Don't force interaction. Good luck and have fun.
How exciting! We have a soon to be 3 yo and an 8 mo. In hindsight ... You might figure out some way for the older dog to get away from the puppy as she feels the need. Look carefully at the toys you have for the puppy; we intended them to stay in the crate but the older one got to them and destroyed them in a flash. From day one our two enjoyed playing tug & this gave the older dog a break from the puppy chewing on him. Enjoy and pictures please once you catch your breath.
Don’t expect them to be good pals straight away, it takes time and make sure they both can have some space from each other and again .
