With so many new puppy owners (or expectant owners!) on the site at the moment, I thought it would be good to know what you most need information on. What topics are you worried about, and what, if anything, would you like to see added to the puppy information on the main website? Is there anything you haven't been able to find? Anything that is confusing or unclear? Experienced puppy owners are welcome to comment too! We do run over the titles in the main site every few months and make a list of topic that we think need covering in more depth, but it is much better to hear what those 'at the sharp end' need.
Re: New puppy owners - what are your worries? I've noticed the questions seem to come in phases - a few weeks ago it was questions about food, then there was a lot about puppy mouthing... I think something about quantities of food would be good. I know it varies depending on age, size, type of food etc but I see a lot of posts asking if their pup is too fat/too thin etc so maybe a little something to cover common queries like that? For example a pup at 4-6 months may appear skinnier than a younger pup as it is at this age that they are growing different ways and turn a bit lanky.
Re: New puppy owners - what are your worries? Exercise and how much is often discussed. There are some who ovary religiously the 5 min rule. Others are somewhat pragmatic.

Puppy insurance is a hot topic of conversation- some very interesting comments were made today on the 'health' page- I've always had my pets insured but didn't know minor health complaints in the first few weeks would be taken into account when starting a new policy.
Re: New puppy owners - what are your worries? Hi. I am waiting on my new pup she will be ready in 2 weeks. Toilet training I know there is alot about it. But we are going to use the outside method. But are unsure what to do with the pup if she wees or poos in the house? This part of training I couldn't find. Also crates I found it a bit hard to know what size to start off with ect. The food one is good too that above poster said Also maybe more videos too. As sometimes it's easier when you watch it rather than read it.

I will spend loads of time teaching Lola patience and to not nip or jump then my other half comes home and rough houses with her and training goes out the window! He even brought her up to our room last night (which is a big no no for me) and she pounced on my head while I was asleep! He told me a silly excuse of when we stay over at his dad's she won't have a gate to keep her in the kitchen so may as well let her try now! WTF?! Also his approach to other dogs. After her getting attacked by those dogs I ask the other owners if they are ok to meet where as he just lets them meet ??? If anyone has any advice for training a 30 year old middle child I welcome any and all suggestions lol

Oh, I have some stories! ;D Seriously though, I think I was all so very earnest about training the pup. OH was altogether more relaxed about the whole thing. We both agreed recall training was the priority. Apart from that, he was in charge of cuddle training and fun, and I was in charge of the "serious stuff". ;D I think he contributed just as much as I did to bringing up a confident, well adjusted, friendly puppy! ;D Notwithstanding some of our commands are a tad embarrassing to use in public! ;D I think the worst is "poop action!" Delivered in an excited shout. Works though!

If the cat walks in Lola gets a mucky look and parks her butt down lol although recently she'll stick her belly on the floor and bum in the air and then jump in circles as if to say "please please pleeeease play with me" the cat just trots away
