    Poor Poppy!
we had paid up front but I couldn't bare to go back. I just didn't need the stress!
We've had another lovely walk today (not perfect by any means) but I feel much more relaxed.
Our trainer is on the other end of the phone when I need him until I see him again
I can't wait to show off our cleverness :D

I hope you can find a 1:1 trainer soon

    Another lovely session.
walking coming on (slowly but surely)

Today he did some focus training with Eric which Eric loved! we will definitely give it a go.

Eric is a constant sniffer when we're out and as the trainer trains sniffer dogs for the local police force he's given us some ideas for sniffer training Eric lol. Simple games really but again Eric loves it.

Has also given us some advise for Eric's constant jumping up on table/worktops

all in all lots to work on :D

Sounds as if you and Eric are very happy with your new trainer. It's so good when you are making progress and you're both happy

Just caught up with this thread, lovely to hear Eric is getting on so well with a 1:1 trainer. I'm persevering with puppy classes as I think Ripple needs to mix with other dogs more (something I know I did wrong with my previous labs) but I would love someone to address some of our issues on an individual basis.
And if you can share any tips on the counter surfing I would be thrilled, I have persevered for weeks with Ripple but he still hasn't stopped, and after not getting anything from the worktops in all that time this morning he managed to swipe a pile of his treats. There'll be no stopping him now!

2 things for the counter surfing for us to try

    1. making sure everything is out of reach (we have virtually rearranged the kitchen this morning) completely ignore when he is up. As he gets down give the 'off' command. lots of praise/attention when he's down. Once this is perfected (or as near as) we will move on to having things on worktops in reach (I'll let you know when we do)

    2. Train him to come 'up' to you ... so front paws on you... give him attention then say 'off' . The thinking behind this one is twofold. He can get up when told and he gets off when told.

He is still jumping up but is getting off quicker.
    It's never ending lol

    :D :D
This week his walks have been a pleasure! Not perfect but a pleasure :)
Pulling has really lessened and when we stop he quickly comes back to my side.
He isn't jumping as much at strangers and tonight when I stopped to talk to someone he didn't jump up (although I could see he wanted to lol) then he sat. Such a good boy

He also goes to day care some mornings and at lunchtime when hubbie picked him up Jo said how he has really settled and is obviously a well trained dog! Go Eric!!

Eric's making good progress, well done. I'm still toying with wether to go to some classes, get some one to one or just keep plodding along.
I'll start using the 'off' command for the counter surfing my pups just started doing. I'll do it as you've suggested.

The off command is definitely work in progress with us. As I was reading this he jumped up, stealth like and silent, and pinched half a lemon! It was soon spat out so perfect opportunity for drop command too hahaha!

And I absolutely love the clicker. we have 6 now dotted all around the house or in pockets ready to use.

Northfarm No you have the right breed, just got the wrong trainer. :D I have no time for any trainer who says something like that
