My 10 week old puppy has night time diarrhea. During the day he has normal bowel movements. Starting around 6 pm his bowels become loose. We have taken him to the Vet and done numerous fecal test, and checked him for giardia and it was negative. He gets one packet of fortiflora a day and 1 teaspoon of pumpkin with his morning meal and with his evening meal. He doesn't receive any type of treats, and he drinks plenty of water during the day. He has plenty of energy throughout the day and even at night before he goes to sleep. He goes to bed at 10 pm, and he usually has one loose bowel movement 3 hours after going to bed, then he sleeps the remainder of the night until I get him up at 5 am. He didn't have any bowel issues until a Vet tech gave him too much cheese whiz while we were at his first Vet appointment. Because of the cheese whiz incident we used rice and boiled lean beef to get him back to normal. Normal lasted one day and then the night diarrhea started. Any help would greatly appreciated. We also make sure he doesn't get into anything when he is outside and he is never left alone inside.
I am wondering if you found a solution to the problem. We have the same problem with our pup, who is now 14 weeks old. About three weeks ago, she started having diarrhea, especially at night. Sometimes up to 3 times overnight. We went to a bland diet of rice/turkey. Now that we have tried to reintroduce a low ingredient kibble (Farmina) the diarrhea has returned. We started just putting a little kibble in with the rice/turkey and no problems. Yesterday, we tried a half cup by itself and diarrhea returned.
My puppy is 13 weeks and has been having nighttime diarrhea on and off for a few weeks. The first culprit was rawhide and bully sticks. Her tummy just couldn't handle them. I took them away and it improved. Then the diarrhea came back a couple weeks later. Had her tested and she has giardia that most likely was picked up at her puppy class (I had no choice but to potty her in the middle of the class in the shared area and even though I was watchful, MANY dogs had pottied there. It's the only place she's been outside of my yard since I got her!). she's on meds for it now along with anti-diarreahl. Hang in there. I know it's rough especially at night! I haven't gotten more than 2-3 hours of sleep at a time for weeks since she's had issues.
