Everyone is making me laugh with the poo walk talk. Didn't realize this was a thing, but Myles does a poo pull and I get all annoyed that he's randomly pulling, then lightbulb moment and me saying "oh sorry baby, I didn't know".

Curious Fiona, does Shadow have his dew claws? Many breeders in the US remove them, but many don't. Myles has his and I remember reading that one of the benefits of having them is being able to pull themselves up in a life threatening situation. Regardless, so glad he is ok!

Yes, he does. It always seems a bit weird to me that they should be removed unless there's a problem. I think I've seen a video in the past showing a dog using its dew claws to climb.

I'm glad now that they're both slim; if he'd had another couple of kilos of weight on him, he may not have been able to pull himself up. He's getting quite muscular now, my little buff boy :)

It's amazing how dogs can scramble up a bank to get themselves onto dry land. Both Juno and Jen, her bestest girl friend, were scrambling up what appeared to be vertical stream banks on Tuesday of between 3 and 4 feet. After they had both done it once there was no stopping them :D:D, and of course they both have their dew claws for additional grip. I don't know why you would want to remove them unless there was a medical reason.

Oh you poor thing how terrifying. I thought my walk was awful this morning when Mabel thought she would lunge at a yummy mummy in squeaky flip flops, and generally make all the yummy mummies look at us in disdain at her antics.
Really glad your walk ended happily.

That sounds absolutely terrifying! Just dread those heart in mouth moments...had a few with Benson when he used to run off.

Hopefully this will have give Shadow some experience of faster water and he will be naturally become more cautious. I do wonder if he age makes him more fearless due to natural testosterone surges.

Well, we went on one of our regular walks this evening. We cross over a biggish river which is fast-flowing but shallow and easy to get in and out of. He didn't bother going near, but nor did he seem nervous. At the end of the walk there's a little plunge pool they like to splash around in. It's tiny - only about ten feet in diameter - but they can't touch the bottom except right at the very edge, so they stand there cautiously to build up the courage to go in. He acted exactly as normal, having a little swim to catch bubbles from the waterfall once he felt brave enough to go in.

I'm wondering if he saw a reflection or something in the river to make him leap in. I can think of no other reason!

Glad it hasn't given him a fear of water. It may take longer for yours to go!

I'm so glad he's none the worse for his adventure. I hope the rest of his adventures are not as hair raising. For your sake if not for his.

I had a dream last night that Willow and Shadow escaped from home (impossible) and I lost them. I've been up since 5am because I couldn't get back to sleep and had to go and check on them. Shadow is now cuddled up in my lap, snoring....

Oh no ... It seems so real at that time of night! Glad it wasn't, though, and perhaps Shadow's snoring eventually lulled you back to sleep!
