    I know! I'm wondering whether they meant average for the ones that they see to diagnose, the ones that present clinically? They can't mean average for the breed as a whole, surely?

    These tests must not have been cheap (they never are) - if I were you I'd be writing to the orthopedic vet and asking specific questions until you end up with a clear picture of the state of Penny's hips. It's causing you significant worry :( and it's just no good you being in the position of not knowing whether she has something seriously wrong, or is about average for a labrador!

    I assume 50% means a DI index of 0.5. In order to understand this, should you not also have been told in which percentile for the breed this result falls? Time to nail the advisors down until you get some clear answers, methinks!
