Re: Not a good week Well, in terms of drinking: Watery (non salty) stock is generally pretty irresistible Frozen sardine tin water (or just watered down and offered) Normal kibble, but soaked Ice cubes Ice cubes in water bowl Veggies in water bowl Charlie was super clingy after being left at the vets...he soon picked up though. Best wishes.
Re: Not a good week Lilly is always more likely to drink water that is "flowing" - maybe outside, pour some out of a bottle - sports bottles in particular are good. If you are giving her a little chicken and rice, just make sure it is REALLY sloppy wet. Same with a small kibble meal if you move on to that. Hope there is room on the camp-bed for you both
Re: Not a good week Hope Holly is feeling a bit better today. I am sure that in a week or so she'll be completely back to normal. Just think - you'll never ever have to worry about a season again!
Re: Not a good week How's she doing? They look awful for the first 24 hours then perk up remarkably quickly so she will be fine, I'm sure. Interesting reads all these threads on spaying. Our vet just said no jumping for 48 hours then she'll be fine but don't let he go wild for the next 10 days or so. Makes me think we were lucky she didn't do herself a mischief. Well she did actually. On day 2 it had gone all quiet as it does when they are up to no good and it turned out she had eaten a tennis ball. That was a good indicator that she was on the mend, but pretty expensive in vet bills to have her x-rayed to check that she was ok. Poohs the next day were interesting. ;D
Re: Not a good week Holly is convinced that she's completely recovered fro the op. She wants to tear around with toys, run around the garden, climb the stairs and do all her usual things. Poor girl, she doesn't understand why she's not getting her walks, not allowed to play tuggy, being taken into the garden on a lead .... its really hard for her. To discourage her from going upstairs we've built a wooden barrier and tied it to the newel so she can't move it. To stop her from trying to jump the barrier OH and I are spending alternate nights sleeping downstairs with her. Last night she discovered a new game - sticking a cold nose into the sleeping bag to see if I was awake I think we'll all be glad when this is over!
Re: Not a good week Great that she is feeling sprightly again Hope it's your turn for a good night's sleep tonight!
Re: Not a good week Hope Holly is ok and recovering well. My Holly got speyed today and is a little dopey and doesnt know what to do with herself. She keeps whining. To add insult to injury she also had a tumour removed from the base of her tail whilst under. Shaved in 3 places. No wonder she dont like me much at the mo. 2 x 15 minute walks a day for the next 10 days til the stitches come out. Looking forward to that
Re: Not a good week Hope your Holly is doing ok, LSB ....and I hope that the tumour was nothing serious.
Re: Not a good week I hope your Holly recovers well. Make the most of the dopey period as the anaesthetic wears off, because a bored Lab can be a real handful We've kept our Holly walk free as we don't want to take any chances with the stitches. She has so much energy she's ready to pop. On Monday (10 days after the op) we plan to start lead walks and build her up over the week. We've taken turns sleeping downstairs with her. Last night at about 3 am she decided it would be fun to join me inside the sleeping bag. Her idea of fun seems to differ from mine. Colleagues at work thought I was a little cranky today
